Catching up

I’ve been reading.  Which is taking away time from the blog.  Seems I’m channeling my inner tween and reading about vampires and werewolves.  In fact, I ended up at a 1005pm showing of the latest installment of the series on Friday night, meeting Kenny, who saved me from seeing the movie by myself in the theater (something I have yet ever to do).  I didn’t think I’d succumb to the hype, but after the girls came up a few weekends ago, and I DVR’d the first movie, I am hooked!  Anyways, last weekend was great, seeing our newest family member and having Brandon and Peyton play with their cousins.  Brandon enjoyed having another little girl around; in fact, I had to watch him closely because he always ended up in Penelope’s face when she was in the stroller.  The first day we saw Meg, Jeff, Abby and Penelope was at their hotel room.  Sooner after checking into their hotel, we stopped by to say hi.  Peyton’s “greeting” to Uncle Jeff was to flip up the inverted stroller that Dave and Jeff were trying to fix, and drive one part of the wheel right into his crotch.  Apparently, she didn’t want the girls to have any more siblings.  Brandon’s contribution and “greeting” was to blow up the bathroom with a stink bomb!  He told me he needed to go poop.  That was an understatement.  Poor Abby had the misfortune of following his trip to their potty.  Peyton taught us some more signs, like when she was wearing her monkey sweatshirt, and told us the monkey was “sad” by dragging her pointer finger down her cheeks.  We wondered why that was the case.
We made it to our alma mater to take family photos.  The photographer was a little late, which made for a little restlessness.  We ended up walking the kids around the campus to let them run around.  We had to be careful not to have any of the kids take nosedives right before the pictures.
Back at Dave’s parents’ house, his mom presented breakfast, which was a Chinese breakfast, with lots of meats, stewed eggs, and vegetables.  Brandon asked, “Why are we having dinner for breakfast?”

We had a third and final day at the park.  Brandon had fun winning a prize at the midway games.  This was after Dave and I both won the kids Woodies.  His was a fishing game that “everyone wins”, but the smile on this boy’s face was priceless, when he won the turtle, which he named, “Squirt.” We sufficiently tired them out, and on our drive back home, they both slept for the better part of 3 hours!
We followed up on a lead from Nela about a little cafe in town.  Shaved yogurt with fruit and condensed milk.  Yum.  We went once with the whole family; we also waited until they opened for round 2 right before we drove back home.  Blog a bit disjointed; as I jotted down thoughts on my phone, trying to piece it together.  Back to reading.  Peyton is currently thumbing her way through Baby Signs, self-studying.  I had the book since Brandon’s early days, but haven’t used it until now, since Peyton has really taken to it.

  1. Finally!! I’ve been waiting for an update. You know I love to read these blogs the last few months. But I totally understand about the reading of those books. I read all four in about a week. I didn’t sleep much that week and was exhausted at work but it was soooo worth it. We can’t wait for the movie to come out on DVD. No movie theaters for us for now.
