Peyton’s check up was a bit delayed, since we were out of town at the beginning of the month, then with Brandon’s field trips, etc. So we went in today. Brandon wanted to join us, but that was more than I could handle. On our way to the appointment, we saw Katelyn, one of Peyton’s classmates, playing outside. Peyton pointed to her, and said, “K-K.” Since we were a little early, I took Peyton to go say hi on the other side of the glass. Katelyn’s dad said that she was pointing inside and saying something like “Baby”. Katelyn was there to get shots. I wasn’t sure if Peyton needed any today, but we said a quick hello and goodbye, as they would see each other later at school.
I had to fill out a questionnaire, and had to perform some tests on Peyton in the waiting room. It asked if she could name 3 body parts. So I tested her on mouth (check), nose (check) and eyes (check). I continued just because we were having so much fun 🙂 We did hand, foot, and ears. Then, I needed to see if she knew 7 words. I checked them off in my head, “Milk, water, please, yes, no, book, ready.” By this time with Brandon, I had compiled a vocabulary list for him. I hadn’t really kept track of Peyton’s vocabulary to date. She knows more than 7, that’s for sure. The other questions were on her coordination, like throwing a ball. She can definitely throw things. Since we were having so much fun with our questionnaire, it wasn’t too long before we were called back. She was asked to step on the scale, and after I placed her there, she turned around and said, “No,” a little hesitant. We took her length without problem, but she didn’t want the MA to touch her head to measure the head circumference. The room had Thomas stickers stuck on the walls and cabinets. That kept us busy until the doctor arrived. We had a quick visit, things checked out just fine, and Peyton came away with two books! I told the pediatrician that Peyton is teaching us signs at home; Dr C said she had never heard that before! It is a credit to Peyton’s teachers that she knows so many signs. (Mollie was telling me she knows the sign for “art” as well, and that she loves art time.) She probably knows more signs but isn’t using them on us (probably figures we won’t understand her anyways). She also thinks Peyton will be potty training soon since she seems so interested and can express it to us. She may need to take vitamin D drops, (we tried them in the past, but she puked them all up). We’ll try them again, even though they supposedly taste yucky. She did have to get one shot today. The poor teachers will have two kids with shots today. Peyton was not scared to go back, like Dave says she has been in the past. Even when the kid before her was screaming bloody murder, and the receptionist had to help out, since his mom was pregnant. It made the whole waiting room cringe! She helped me pull down her pants, and I asked, “Ready?” She gave me an enthusiastic, “READY!” Poor thing didn’t even know what she was responding to; she usually says that when she’s about to go down a slide and have fun. The shot was over before she knew it, and there’s always a delayed reaction, and then the tears and sad cry. She stopped after she got her sticker. We went to go upstairs and visit with upstairs. She was happy when talking with Nela (gave her two high fives) and Jennifer. But when the rest of the crowd came up, she was a bit overwhelmed. She closed her mouth and was done. Tony even had to ask if she was talking yet!
Here are her stats (she is shrinking and getting lighter):
25 lbs, 5 oz (62%)

I guess she needs to eat more “growing food”, and less “beanies and weenies”.
She fell asleep on the way to school – one second she was talking to me, then next, silence. 60 to 0 in 2 seconds, like someone slammed on the brakes. And she didn’t look like she had just fallen asleep, like she was easily roused. She was OUT cold, like she had been sleeping for hours. She did wake up once we got to school.
