Sweet big brother

In some ways, Peyton has made Brandon more mature.  Today, we had just put each of their bowls in front of them for dinner.  We were still in the kitchen getting the rest of our dinner ready.  They were sitting at their small table.  It was suddenly quiet (usually there’s low rumble of chatter in our household).  I looked over and Brandon was leaning over the table, with Peyton’s spoon in his hand, feeding her.  He said, “I’m only going to do this once.”  Then she finished chewing and said, “Help?” while extending the spoon in his direction.  Brandon said, “Okay, but remember what I told you.”  He sounded so grown up the way he was talking to her.  But then his four year old self came back, as the next spoonful was heaping, and he was trying to stuff it in her face before she had finished chewing the last bite.  Oh well.  We take what we can get.
