We all went out for Bonnie’s birthday tonight. It was a surprise and we pulled it off! I had to see her all day, so I was really worried about blowing it. The seating ended up being perfect! All three kids (Mckayla, Jesselyn, and Brandon) were sitting at one side of the table AND the 5 boys (Brandon included) all gathered together. We were practicing “Happy Birthday, Auntie Bonnie” all day long, but when it was game time, Brandon cracked under pressure. Luckily I had recorded it on my phone and played it back for Bonnie. She said he sounded like a little girl (it’s true). Earlier in the day, I told Brandon we were going to a birthday party. Immediately, he knew what that meant, “Cake?” I told him there would be cake there, but he had to sit quietly with Mommy and Daddy at the table and behave. To help him with that, I brought the Choo Choo Thomas book. Jesselyn and Brandon did such a good job sharing. They were passing it off to each other, each wanting the other to read it. Brandon was too interested in a lemon, so he wanted Jesselyn to read it. Jesselyn wanted to share it, so she wanted Brandon to read it. Too funny. I was trying to eat it fast so he wouldn’t eat so much of it (I was giving him a crumb of cake and a small lick of the ice cream part), but he was even faster. After sitting at the table for a long time (and eating all the oranges that were the dish garnishes), I asked him if he wanted to get down, he had to go visit with Uncle Stuart (who was on the other side of the table). He got down and made a beeline over to where Stuart was sitting. He sat on his lap for awhile, then Bonnie said that Brandon’s face looked like when he was sitting on Santa Claus. To put him more at ease, Stuart found the Wiggles on his phone. Brandon was asking Stuart who they were (we’ve never watched it before). After being mesmorized by the phone (along with Jesselyn), he got down and came back. He was reaching the end of the rope though, so it was our cue to leave. What a great night, but it ended a long day! Poor Brandon was so tired, once his head hit the carseat, he was out, but hit round two when we took him out.

And who can forget the drool dribbling down Brandon’s face immediately when he saw the cake 🙂
Yes, how could I forget! When the cake came out, and he was offered a piece, he couldn’t contain himself, and there was drool. Just like a little puppy!
