Brandon’s day

Brandon had a party at school today to mark the end of the year.  I was talking to him this morning about making good choices.  I asked him how many cookies he thought he should eat (knowing there would probably be cookies). He said, “Uh, one, maybe two.”  I told him that was a good answer.
Flash forward to our car ride home.  I asked him how many cookies he had.  He said, “Uh, two.”  I was driving, so I just let my voice do the talking.  Then, I told him, “Don’t lie to me.  Tell me the truth.”  He said, “Well, it was three.  I had three cookies.”  I told him that Santa was listening.  He said, “Okay, it was four.  Well, actually, it was 5.  I had five cookies.”  Then I happened to turn around at the red light, and he sheepishly turned his head to the side and didn’t make eye contact.  I asked him to tell me the truth.  He said, “Oh yea, I had 5.”  I asked him how many cookies we had talked about in the morning.  He had remembered, “One maybe two.”  I asked him to tell me what else he had.  He told me he had Cheetos, pretzels, crackers and cheese, and juice.  Juice because he doesn’t get to drink it that often.  I asked if he had any fruit.  He rattled off strawberries, blueberries, and the “round circle ones”.  I asked him if he were referring to raspberries.  He said, “Yes, raspberries.”  Then I asked him if he had any veggies.  He said, “Ah, the teacher gave me two carrots.”  Whaaa???  I told him to make good choices in food, so that he could grow nice and strong.  Then, “Believe” from J. Groban came on the radio.  He said, “Oh, this song always makes me cry at the end.”  Um, okay. I had never seen him cry in response to this song before.  So we listened to the song, and sure enough, at the end, he started to cry!!  I couldn’t believe it.  I asked him why he was crying.  It was more of a quiet sob.  Then upon further questioning, he burst out crying saying, “I’m going to miss Alessandro when he goes to kindergarten…(booohoooohoooohooo- with his monkey crying face, I’m sure).”  So I acknowledged how he was feeling, and I told him he could make more friends, like he did when he went to this new school.  I told him that we could still keep in contact with Alessandro.  It didn’t really make him feel better.  In fact, his eyes were all red when we got home.  He walked into the house, and Dave asked him what was wrong.  After asking permission, he plopped himself down on the couch.  He just sat there, sullen and calm.  Dave had gotten food ready for us.  He called Peyton over to the table, and she started eating.  Brandon’s food was on the table, too, and Peyton was even dipping If a woman, child or pet http://amerikabulteni.com/2012/05/11/sagliginiz-askina-iki-dakika-ayaga-kalkin/ cheapest cialis uk intakes the medicine, it can lead to serious consequences in them. We walked over to another house, that had mostly blow up animated scenery.  It wasn’t as impressive as the previous house.  The kids had fun pointing out all the different characters – the Grinch, Dora, Mickey, Pooh, Tigger.  Peyton got really excited, and started pointing and naming characters.  She said, “MICKEY!  TIGGER!”  It was proof that Peyton does talk!  I’m convinced most people still think she is mute.  We headed back home after walking back to the original house, which was on our way back home.  We got close to home, and Dave was giving the run down of our nightly routine.  We were going to go home, take baths, and then Brandon stopped us and said, “I just want to go to sleep.”  Haha…we laughed!  He was still coming down from his high.  With a little convincing that he was dirty, he complied, and then went straight to bed without complaint.  I told him tomorrow that he would eat what I gave him – nothing more, nothing less.  We’ll see if he remembers, or makes good choices.  Peyton on the other hand, will request “broccoli” and “veggies” randomly.
While Dave was trying to get Peyton to sleep, he was lying on her blanket.  She whined a bit, then Dave said, “How do we talk in this house?”  Peyton replied, ” ‘Cuse me, Daddy.”  Maybe spending all day with him did some good 🙂
