Keira

Today was Keira’s red egg and ginger party.  We got to most of my dad’s side of the family.  Some hadn’t seen Peyton since her reg egg, so they were amazed how big she was.  She was almost asleep by the time we arrived by 11am.  Dave tried to push her around to fall asleep, but when he arrived at the restaurant, she was awoken by the noise.  She was still groggy, but was busy looking around.  He carried her in, but she was still resting her head on his shoulder.  I took her from Dave, since he was hot and in a button up shirt.  (I still love the cuddly-ness, so I don’t mind holding groggy kids).  She remained this way, even as people were coming up to say hi.  Brandon was also being very shy, looking down whenever anyone stopped to talk.  Uncle Jimmy told him that he’d earn a lot of money looking down that way.  He said normally, people tell you to hold your head up high, but then you end up not being able to see any money lying on the ground.  Good advice!  There were hula and martial arts performances.  Peyton was interested in the hula; she wanted to be put down and walk around to the beat.  The performances were scattered throughout the food courses.  Auntie Marian was amazed how much both kids were eating.  We had mostly seafood, and Brandon ate his fair share of most!  Lobster (again), crab, and shrimp.  I guess because the food came out over a couple of hours, he was able to keep pace.  He was even asking for more noodles at the end.  He ate everything – bok choy, fish, and his lettuce wrap.  He was upset that I only gave him one bao, but I told him he’d have plenty of carbohydrates over the meal.  We didn’t end up leaving until after 3pm!  We didn’t get to see Keira much, since I was worried about germies passing from my kids to her.  She looked like a mini-Chase.  Very cute.
Neither kid had napped, and they were definitely troopers throughout the whole meal.  They both sat in their chairs (with a little help from a mouse and some birds).  Peyton fell asleep on the ride home, while Brandon faked it until we were about 5 minutes from the house.  We went to my parents’ house, since we had to drop my mom off.  She had come with my dad, but he went to work afterward.  I told Brandon we’d visit Matteo after he napped.  He only took a 30 minute nap, maybe, while Peyton slept for about 45 minutes, both shorter than they normally nap.  When we realized Brandon wouldn’t be sleeping anymore, we decided to go to Matteo’s.  We left Peyton, who was a bit drippy and snotty, not wanting to expose her to baby Roy.  We figured Brandon would have fun with Matteo, while Peyton would be the third wheel, since Roy is too small to interact with her (although she loves babies). We got there, and Matteo was excited to see Brandon.  It took them only 5 minutes before they were playing together in Matteo’s room, then set up shop in the family room.  Brandon made himself right at home, going between the family room and Matteo’s, looking for cars that would successfully go around Matteo’s track.  Matteo was busy watching the car auction with the dads.  He even invited Brandon to go watch.  After our visit, Brandon thanked Matteo.  When asked if Matteo was happy to have Brandon over, his response, “Yeah, Brandon’s good.”  Next time, I told Brandon we can ask Matteo if he’d like to come over.  We are more mobile, at this point, given Roy’s not even 4 months old.  Next time, the younger siblings can join in on the fun.  We took Brandon to the mall afterward, as we had some pants of his to return.  He was a good sport about doing the errands with us.  After we got home, Peyton was very excited to see us.  It was pretty late, about 7pm.  Our entire day was thrown off.  The kids stayed up to wait for my dad to come home, then we took off.  While we were driving home, I thought Peyton would be out, but instead, she was listening to the radio, asking “May please turn it louder?” when she heard B. Mars.  (She also has asked to turn it louder with Linkin Park, which is a bit strange to me – two different LP songs).  Brandon sneezed, and Dave and I were talking.  He said, “Um, I just sneezed.”  No response.  “Mommy?”  So I indulged him and said, “Bless you,” then he said, “Daddy?”  Dave took this opportunity to say that it was nice when someone blessed him, but it was NOT required.  Then he said, “Bless you.”
Peyton made it home, until about 5 minutes left, whereas Brandon fell asleep about 1/2 the way home – the reverse from the afternoon naps.  We were contemplating staying over night, but it was Brandon’s preference to come home.  He even said, “Like last time, we didn’t take a bath, and we fell asleep in the car, then we kept sleeping at home.”  He knew exactly what he wanted. Dave said Brandon had told him he wanted to come home to play with the lego’s that he opened without the instructions.  He was referring to a set that’s been in my car for the past week or so. Funny that he thought about it now to want to put it together. I unbuckled Peyton from her seat, and she resisted, crying, “No, I still sleeping!”
