Chillin’ at home

Today was a home day.  We got a lot done – vacuuming, cleaning up, and gardening!  We went to go pick up some more plants, in addition to the little baby ones that I got for the kids the other day.  Peyton was antsy walking around the store, so Dave and Brandon stayed behind to browse.  When he got back, Dave told me they were looking at basil.  Brandon said, “What’s this, Daddy?” and Dave let him smell it.  Then he said, “Oh, pesto!”  He automatically turns basil into pesto 🙂  .  He loves him some pesto.  Maybe Miss Tarez is right – she is convinced he will work in the food industry in some capacity.  While we were in the car, I asked Peyton, who was wearing her bright pink track suit, “What color is that?”  She said, “Hot pink!”  Hmmm…so specific on her colors.  I guess since she has a lot of pink, she has to define the pinks.
We went to eat dim sum after shopping for the plants, then headed home for a nap.  Peyton had woken up after only an hour, which is unlike her.  Then, the doorbell rang.  She said, “OH! Somebody’s dare.  I’m gonna check out.”  She went downstairs, and Brandon was curled up on the floor, under a blanket, just waking up as well.  He had slept for at least 2 hours – one upstairs and one downstairs.  Dave was watching the Masters.  He said it was a solicitor who rang the doorbell!  That used to never happen in the condo, but happens so frequently here.  Ugh!  Poor Brandon, he looked like he could sleep even longer.
After waking up more, we decided to start watering (Dave had planted while the kids were asleep) and planting the seeds.  Yesterday, I found little pots with soil pods that needed reconstitution with water, and a small pack of seeds.  I got tomatoes, strawberries and one sunflower.  They were from the dollar section, so if they don’t turn out, no loss.  The pots are so cute and very tiny!  I worked with each kid to put 3 tablespoons of water to mix up with the soil nugget, and then put in the little strawberry seeds.  Peyton was very careful, picking up the small seed in both her index finger and thumb.  Brandon tried to get it to stick on his finger, and it ended up in the sink, nowhere to be found.

They’d rather run the water through their hands; maybe they are fertilizing the plants first.
