Monkey in the middle; Zoo!

Thursday night, Dave made lasagna.  While Brandon was eating it and Dave was away, he told me, “I liked your lasagna better, Mommy.”  I had made a pan while Dave was in Singapore.  It had soy cheese, whole wheat pasta, and nonfat cottage cheese instead of ricotta.  Dave’s had the usual stuff.  Both had spinach.  Later, I told Dave (in front of Brandon), “Brandon said he liked my pasta better!”  Dave said, “He told me outside that he liked mine better!”  Brandon, diplomat that he is, said, “Well, I liked both of yours, okay guys?”  Haha…poor thing made him the referee.  I guess he knows diplomacy is the only way to ensure he will be fed by either one of us.
We decided to take the kids to the zoo today.  I was worried about them being too cold, bringing a throw blanket for each kid.  Turns out we didn’t need them!  It was a perfect day, given the sun eventually came out, and the kids needed to start stripping off layers.  Brandon walked the entire day.  We arrived at 1030am, and didn’t leave until after 230pm.  The kids got hungry just an hour after we got there, and even though I had snacks, they tore through those.  Dave didn’t want to be forced to eat at the zoo, but once the kids wanted food, they weren’t interested in anything else.  I told Dave we could eat something small, then head out somewhere after.  We ended up all splitting a chicken sandwich, garlic fries (for Dave), sweet potato fries (for the rest of us, though I helped Dave with his), and a fruit bowl.  The kids ate enough, and though he could still eat, it held Dave until we were done.  I think Peyton really enjoys 2% milk.  Dave bought a 16 ounce milk, and she drank 2/3 of it.  Normally she doesn’t drink that much at home, especially over a few hours.  We kept it cold just by covering it up with one of the blankets!  Brandon said he liked the lions the best.  We happened to catch feeding time right at 1pm, as they were opening up the feeding area.  The lioness paced around in front of us, only about 10 feet in front of us.  She was looking at the kids like THEY were lunch.  The lion was a little farther away, but still, we got an up-close look at it.  There were many areas that requested quiet voices, so as not to disturb the animals.  Peyton had some trouble with this, since she was so excited to see the animals.  When we were in the gorilla area, she said, “OH LOOK AT THE BIG ONE RIGHT THERE!”  It was the daddy silverback, and he was huge!  He was standing inside the doorway, surveying the land.  There was a baby boy gorilla, just 2 years old, and 35#.  That’s Peyton’s size!  In just 10 years, he’ll grow to 350#.   We got to see the giraffes pretty close up.  Their tongues are 18 inches, and the kids got so excited when they saw it.  Tonight, Peyton was thrusting out her tongue, and I asked her if she was a giraffe.  She used to do it as a baby, and she did look like that giraffe we saw at the zoo.  At lunch, I looked up and saw Ashley’s family.  Peyton waved to her from outside (they were inside the restaurant).  Mary It can be stress, depression, anxiety, insomnia, female generic viagra low immunity, allergy, skin problems, muscle skeleton pains, neuropathy, etc. Warning: Patients under treatment for the following conditions; or any ongoing managed condition, should consult their GP prior to taking this medicine. * Heart Related & Cardiovascular diseases including http://melissaspetsit.com/ready-key-program/ order viagra aortic stenosis, idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis and general ventricular outflow obstruction. Even after my grandma gave her a cookie, she did not say “Thank you.”  Neither kid had napped, so I tried to just put her down in my aunt’s room and walk away.  My aunt went to check on her and said she was just talking to herself.  She thought it was funny that she’d talk to herself before she talked to anyone else.  She ended up coming out, so I went back to sleep with her.  She wanted to sleep on the bed, which I was surprised about, but ended up staying there.  My grandma told me I fell asleep first, but we both woke up to hear Brandon’s voice, laughing at a cartoon.  She was lying right where she started!  She was so tired, she didn’t even move.  Brandon hadn’t slept at all.  Peyton whined she was hungry at 530pm.  My grandma wanted to feed her soon, so she got started on things.  Within 15 minutes, there was hot food at the table.  Brandon was hungry, too.  Both ate the broccoli, fish, tofu and rice that my grandma had for them.  After dinner, we packed up to head out.  I started thanking my grandma, as did Dave, then suddenly, Peyton said, “Thank you, Taipo!  Bye, Auntie Jean!”  She hugged and kissed both.  Brandon doesn’t need prompting, and he thanked my grandma on his own.  My aunt followed us down to close the garage behind us, and Peyton was waving so exuberantly, I thought her arm would fall off.  She was repeating, Bye, Auntie Jean!”  It was nice to still have it light outside for our drive back.  Since he didn’t take a nap, he was a bit delirious in the back seat.  We told him he’d need to take a bath, then go right to bed.  He’s now self-sufficient in the bath.  We check on him periodically, only to make sure he isn’t wasting water, but otherwise, he knows how to soap up, dry off, and get out.  Dave showed him where not to exceed on the faucet to avoid a burn.  He’s really careful about that.  I turned the water off, and he did the rest.  I put Peyton down by 8pm, and I think Brandon was already out by then.  I told Peyton I’d go downstairs and get her lunch ready.  She agreed, and I think only because I was working on the lunch.  I was afraid she’d get up and wake Brandon up, so I stood outside the door until I heard a deep, rhythmic breathing.  It took all of 3 minutes, long enough for me to catch up with FB.  That was it.  Now I have to go make good on my promise to make her lunch and wind down this from this weekend.
