“I see MeiMei and Fluffy”

We went over to Michelle’s house to give the dogs some treats tonight.  I told Brandon on the way over that Fluffy was sick, so he had to be quiet and not pet him.  Brandon said, “Needs water.”  We went to the pet store to buy some treats and found some cookies that really looked  yummy.  They were carob and vanilla flavor.  When I told Brandon we were shopping for the doggies, he said, “Get some bones.”  So we drove over, and Brandon was fairly behaved at Michelle’s (save for knocking down the stool, and stepping on Julie).  He did his best not to touch the dogs, but MeiMei came up to Brandon who was lying on the floor and gave him “noses”.  He started squealing, then wanted to “pet” her with his feet.  Not too sure why he’s so into touching animals with his feet!  Brandon even learned a little more than he bargained when we were talking about vet procedures and Ted proclaimed that, “Fluffy has no nuts.”  I told Brandon, “Earmuffs” for fear that not tomorrow, not the next day, but some day down the road, Brandon will repeat the exact same sentence out of the blue, to make for an awkward moment.

We said goodbye to everyone and they were surprised Brandon “knows” everyone.  While he didn’t address anyone by name, he did look at the correct person when I called out “goodbyes” to each person there (even McKayla got her own Brandon goodbye).  He’d change his tone of voice with each different person so it was a unique goodbye.  Torturing him to be polite.

We followed Robert and Julie home, and we even went on the freeway without any complaints!  It was amazing.  I just told Brandon that Uncle Robert was protecting us.  He could see his car in front of us (it really could have been any car, but Robert didn’t make a liar out of me).  When he started to squirm a little, like he does when he totally freaks out, I told him again, “Uncle Robert and Auntie Julie are right there to make sure we get home safely.”  He was ok with that.  After he was more calm, he started talking about the people and animals that he had just seen.  “I see MeiMei, Fluffy.  Uncle Robert.  Auntie Julie.  Who else?”  So we went through all the people that were there and in no time, we were home.

Now we’re back home and he is still talking about the dogs.  “What MeiMei doing?  Where’d MeiMei go?  I go see Fluffy.”  I had to tell him that Fluffy was sick and that he had an owie on the inside.  He thought about it for a second, then went back to “What Fluffy doing?”

We give our best to the Kao dogs and family!
