Can lead a horse…

The saying…”You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.”  As of today, I’ve changed it to, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t stop it from eating buttermilk ranch dressing.”  While emptying out his lunchbox, Dave found a half squeezed package of buttermilk ranch dressing.  This is along with some yellow mustard remnants in Brandon’s leftover ravioli container.  Eww…I suppose he is experimenting with flavor, but really?  Ranch with ravioli?  Well, I did give him some tomatoes, which were all gone, so maybe he used it for that.  We stress the importance of healthy eating, but in the end, he’s going to do what he’s going to do.  However, since we stopped giving him money for milk (chocolate or otherwise), he’s done better in school.  Coincidence?  I don’t know, but I’m still not giving him any money to find out.

Today, one of his homework assignments is to plan out dinner.  I told Dave to take this one, since I’d been doing the other homework assignments with him already.  So, Brandon got to pick what he wanted to eat, and write it down.  He got to try to spell it out first, then Dave corrected him.
Here’s the list:

So, after Brandon went to bed, Dave told me we were having “Sa-min with Pisto, and mickle.”  He’s messed up.

Kid #2 , not to be outdone, was talking to me today on the way home.  We passed by a home that was decorated for Halloween.  She said, “I don’t like the witches house.”  I said, “Yeah?” not really thinking.  She said, “Don’t say ‘Yeah’.  ‘Yeah’ is rude, ‘Yes’ is better.”  Then I had the radio on, and she said, “Can you turn it more softer? My ears hurts.”  This morning, when dropping Brandon off, some kids were watching “How to Train your Dragon.”  Peyton stopped and watched, but looked concerned.  She wanted to leave the CDC.  So in the car this afternoon, she said, “I no like ‘How to Change your Dragon’. It’s scary. But it’s not real.”  Finally, she kept her pants dry today, so she got to watch a few minutes of Aladdin before dinner.  Here’s her performance.  And solo.
