Alphabet; Routines

Peyton is learning letters left and right.  She can name them all, and she is now associating the letters with objects.  In the car, she started with, “A is for airplane.”  I thought she might stop there, since it’s the first letter of the alphabet.  Then she continued, “B is for bruddah, C is for car, D is for Daddy, E is for elephant, F is for frog.” I asked her what G is since that’s the letter they are on now.  She said, “Giraffe.”  Then she started skipping around, with “M is for Mommy. And P is for Peyton.”  She trailed off and started singing after that, so I didn’t get to ask her about the rest of the letters.
Peyton is big into correcting me these days.  I told my mom that there were 12 kids in the class and 3 teachers.  Pretty good ratio, considering she could have up to 24 kids in the class.  She overheard me and said, “Ms Sandeepa is in India, so we only have TWO teachers.”  The teacher also said that she had a sip of left over KoolAid, but also told her to tell her mom that she only had a little bit.  The teacher was worried about Peyton ratting her out again.  Peyton will always make it a point to go get water and say, “Ms Joanne, I’m getting water, see?”  So Ms Joanne said that Peyton totally gets the joke, and even rubs it in.  Ms Kristina said the same thing about Peyton’s sense of humor and how she liked joking around with her because “she got it.”
We brought Peyton’s ice pop home that they made at school.  I told her she could eat it when she was done with dinner. Suddenly, she said, “I want avocado and meat for dinner.  And apple sauce on my meat.”  I realized that she was calling out her dinner so that she could hurry up and get to her pop.  Turns out that she forgot about it, since I’d put it in the freezer to completely freeze up again.

In fact, she had the giggles!  I walked in to give her a hug after reading to Brandon, and she couldn’t stop laughing!  I asked her what she was laughing about, and she said, “I don’t know!”  I pressed my nose into her face and that made her giggle even more.  She finally calmed down, and I told her I was going running (today is training day #1).
I forgot about this morning – she came into our room, and I heard her music and asked her, “Did you alarm go off?”  She said, “No, my alarm went ON.”  Yes, she corrected me again.  It’s better than yesterday, when she came in after hearing my alarm, which is set 9 minutes before hers, and I wouldn’t lift her up to our bed.  I just reached my hand out and held hers.  She sat there for a few seconds, sighed, and dropped my hand and went back to her room.  She’s done this on several different mornings, but eventually, she gets it and goes back to her own room until her own alarm turns on.  The kids have been sleeping for almost 11 hours now (knock on wood); which has been great since Sunday and Monday, I didn’t make it past 10pm, which is rare for me!
