Today, Dave went to work at his normal time. He had a few hours to work, so he left early. He was debating about riding or not, so either way, it would have been me with the kids. Brandon had some sentences to write this morning, so it was essentially a repeat of yesterday. Peyton always thinks she’s missing out when Brandon does worksheets, so she wants in, too. When Brandon calmed down, he worked on his sheets with only minimal assistance. Dave came home at 11 am, after I’d given them snacks and while Brandon was working on sheets. I took Peyton with me to Costco. I had just been on Friday, but I wanted more blueberries and oatmeal. We had a list with us, and she sat nicely helping to remind me what we needed. Since it was the weekend, it was pretty crowded. She did okay except she kept telling me she was hungry and wanted to know what Daddy had for lunch 😉 We walked around some honey samples, and I told her no several times. Finally, since it was taking a long time for me to find what I was looking for (baking soda was hiding!), I grabbed her one. After the first bite, she said, “Uh-oh.” I looked at her, and she’d gotten it all down the front of her sweater. I took it away, without resistance, and she continued to suck on the spoon. And her button. Ick. It was sticky. She’d already eaten pulled pork (she said, “mmm, this is sweet!”) and cheese (“Mommy, this cheese [gouda] is yummy!”). She didn’t get as many as Brandon since she wasn’t mobile, and it was too crowded.
We came home, ate lunch, and then she headed up for a nap. Dave headed out again for some foil since he’d run out making some ribs. Peyton woke up after only about 30 minutes. Dave came home, and Brandon was finally done. I hope he sees the light soon, otherwise he is going to be missing out! He earned a coupon yesterday for swimming, so he pulled a ticket to play two games with Daddy. He was supposed to play Operation, but Dave offered to play Battleship with him. Brandon jumped at the chance. I was making salads for dinner (to offset the ribs), and also lunch for tomorrow, while Peyton was half-watching TV, and half-watching the Battleship game. We ate an early dinner, and then went to the park for the kids to ride their bikes. Brandon took a couple of hard falls, but luckily, all his padding kept him safe. He broke a reflector on the bike, but otherwise, no other problems. He almost took me out on a fall, sliding on the slippery section joining two sections of asphalt. Peyton played a bit on the structure, while Brandon continued to ride. While hanging upside down, Peyton told me she wanted to count to 100. I started counting and she got to 30. Later, when Dave was there, she did it again. This is her attempt:
(I started counting faster to help her out, but it still wasn’t enough).
