The basketball team is definitely getting better! While the outcome was the same, more players scored points today. The kids are passing better, and taking better shots. So far, Brandon’s purely a defensive player. On offense, he is a great passer 🙂 At least he knows his role, and he doesn’t try to take shots that he has no business taking. My mom came to watch the game today. She didn’t know any of the players names, only their numbers. Peyton knew each kid’s name, by just their number and the backs of their heads. She knew all the kids’ names except the boy whose sister she plays with. Oops. After I informed her, she knew all 10 boys on the team. She, too, did a better job cheering and rooting for the team. She did mess around with Anya for a bit, but we got to watch most of the game. They will take a break for the president’s holiday, and will resume with practice after a week and a half. Hopefully they can continue with the momentum they have thus far!
Today, Peyton woke up early, but she refused to take a nap. Basketball was at 11 am, and we didn’t finish up until after 1230 pm. She was totally cranky, irritable, and easy to cry. Dave was going to take Brandon to the golf range, but in a strange turn of events, she was crying to go, and he was crying to stay. Easy fix! Dave said Peyton fell asleep within 2 minutes in the car. He thought maybe she’d sleep in the stroller while he hit balls. But it was enough to energize her, so she hit, too. And when he was hitting, she watched patiently! That was NOT what he had expected. Poor thing is using Brandon’s lefty clubs, so maybe she will end up being a lady left-handed golfer (the third generation of lady left-handed golfers, mind you). She fell asleep on the way back, but quickly woke up when they got back. After dinner, Brandon and I went to TJ’s to do some shopping. Dave was watching nascar for awhile with her, when she asked, “After this, I’ll go to sleep?” He thought it was funny that she was asking to go to sleep. When I got back, Peyton was already bathed, and was coming downstairs to say goodnight. She asked a hug, and told me she’d be in her bed ready for me. I unloaded the groceries, then found her in her bed, ready for night-night. I have no doubt she will be asleep within minutes.
