Easter Weekend

Brandon had his game early this weekend, at 930 am. We still had a little cuddle time in the morning, and Peyton slept in her own bed all night long, without coming in complaining of a wet diaper, so it was well-deserved. The morning did seem to rush along, as Dave and Brandon were out the door before 9 am. Peyton and I were ready, but since we didn’t need to get there for warm-up time, we chose to walk there. It was a nice walk, but Peyton decided to stop while we were still on our street. Apparently, it was too early for her to walk. So I motivated her by distraction – we riddled the rides in the park, named animals from A-Z (she got them all, remembering “N for nightcrawler”), and then using landmarks to keep her looking forward to something. She was kept entertained in the game by sitting on the storage unit for the field. It was a tube, and it required some balancing so she didn’t fall over. It was a bit stressful for me to both watch the game and make sure she didn’t topple backward off the tube, while also balancing myself. The kids were all hitting well, so instead of only 3 innings, we got to go to four! Peyton was over the tube after the first two innings, then moved to the bench where the players were not. She had her coloring and snack there. I was able to watch better at this point. The game was a good one, and Brandon ripped one into right field, just a bit foul, for one of his at-bats. It looks like Dave’s practicing with him is paying off! He did get on base all four at-bats. He also made an out, while playing at 2nd base (not a likely position for a lefty, but they do rotate them all), as he made the play at first. The team was really well-coordinated, and are definitely improving as a team. We by-passed snack shack, and we headed home. We packed up the car, and headed to the brand new outlets on the way to my mom’s. Initially, I didn’t want to go, but I ended up getting some things for our upcoming trips, while the kids got some shoes! Each kid came home with a pair of Converse, while Brandon got another pair of running shoes. We spent quite a bit of time there before continuing our journey. The three passengers fell asleep after we left the outlets. We got to my mom’s then headed to return some Skylanders that she’d gotten the kids (duplicates). The kids (all three – including Dave) picked out ones we didn’t have, and then we came home to play. The kids got some new games and puzzles, so they were entertained with that. They got to stay up a bit later, which they enjoyed. Then my mom and I watched a movie, while Dave went to sleep earlier. Peyton was sandwiched between my mom and me, though she tossed and turned all night long. Brandon woke up at 530 am, so luckily, Dave had gone to sleep early the night before. After breakfast, we dyed Easter eggs. We let Peyton have a 30 second head-start, before releasing Brandon into the backyard. They did get about the same amount of eggs, but Brandon found the golden one. They were both excited to open the eggs up to see what was inside.  We said goodbye to my mom after lunch, then headed back home with a stop to meet up with Dave’s friend to celebrate his 40th.  We went to D&B’s, which is like a parent version of C.E.Cheese.  The kids had fun, as did we, and we had a quick bite here to eat, mixing with the food with play.  I took some video of the kids on a driving game, sitting together.  I tried to get the dash-cam view of it.  Here and Here.  I’d definitely choose getting into a car with Brandon at this point in time (if I absolutely had to), based on this. After spending our points, we headed home.  The kids were in bed by 730 pm, and we’re all ready to start April!
