Teacher Peyton

While the big kids were engaged in flash cards, Peyton made it a point to get her BrainQuest cards out for she and Penelope. Since Peyton has seen most of the cards, she was reading them to Penelope. She sounded so teacher-ly, asking her to provide the answer to the card’s question. I think it was _est (with a picture of a vest). She “instructed” Penelope to provide the first letter of the word. Then, she was sounding out the letter, “Vah, vah…” and when Penelope said, “Vee,” Peyton said, “Good job!” again, in a very teacher-ly voice. Meg and I just watched the two of them interact with one another. It is fascinating to see, and I told her that is the way she is with her friends at school, too.

She is motivated to learn Spanish! I recently ordered her some Spanish flash cards, and hopefully they will arrive shortly. In the car today, she asked me to give her numbers in Spanish, and then she has self-imposed to determine whether they are odd or even. It is a challenge for me now, to remember all the numbers up to 100, but she is definitely getting it! I usually look at road signs, or license plate numbers to help me make up the numbers. Always a good time in the car…
