Saturday

Today, we woke up at 9 am, and headed out to Animal Kingdom, since we hadn’t done that yet. It always seems “Africa hot” when we go to AK, or maybe it’s just our imagination. We were changing things up and didn’t bring a stroller. Peyton and I walked while Brandon and Dave went ahead to get Expedition Everest fast passes. Peyton was interested in looking at the animals, and then wanted to stop and rest. Good golly did it take us forever to get anywhere. Not to mention that this park is the one I least know, and I didn’t want to walk around aimlessly, so I was navigating with my map, trying to make sure Dave wasn’t texting me, and just letting Peyton follow along. She didn’t want me dragging her by the hand, so I just walked, and she more or less followed. We finally met up with Dave, and we all headed to the ride that all of us could go on – Rapids. It’s like the other rapids, but the boat seats 12 people. We had to wait 50 minutes, but neither kid minded, since they were excited to get to the ride itself. I think for Peyton, she was happy to be entertained while walking, and mostly in the shade. After we finished up the ride, all of us were soaked. It felt great! We headed to go eat lunch, and the kids shared some noodles, while Dave had a sandwich, and I ate a salad. Then, I took Brandon on Expedition Everest, and he loved the ride. For me, it was so-so. I’m totally getting old, as I enjoyed the theme, but the rocking back and forth, not so much. Dave then wanted to ride it, so we swapped kids. Peyton was happy to sit and wait for the boys to see if we could see them on the ride. We watched train after train, until finally we saw them! I snapped a few shots, and we were able to see them in the photos! After we’d finished those two rides, neither kid was interested in the safari. We did take a short hike and saw some huge bats, hanging around this sanctuary, and three tired and hot tigers lounging around in a pen. We saw some other animals, too, but they weren’t as notable (mostly birds). We decided to head out, and got back on the shuttle to home. I convinced Peyton to take a nap, which she did, then we came back to the room for the stroller. We learned our lesson. We did dump the bag, though, so we were still traveling lighter. We got some ice cream on the way in to Epcot – artisanal, so fancier flavors like profiterole and caramel del sel. We told the kids it was “adult” ice cream, and that they may have their own later, depending on if we found another spot for them. We let them split a sandwich to stave off their hunger for a few hours. It had just started to rain, a pattern we’ve been noticing right in the later afternoon. It didn’t last long though, just long enough to get our ponchos wet. We headed to the Voices of Liberty performance, on Peyton’s request. She loves vocal/live performances! She was totally into it, sitting straight up, even though we were sitting criss cross on the floor at the base of the American Pavilion. The dome was great for acoustics, and they were right in front of us singing. We headed to see the 30 minute American presentation, which Peyton sat through in its entirety. It was a good thing, since I dozed off. Brandon had to go potty, so Dave went with him right before the show started. They missed maybe 5 minutes of it. When we were done, Peyton heard the Voices of Liberty again! I told her we already saw them, but she said, “No, there are different people!” She could see right away that the 10 member choir had some new faces. She stayed until they finished up that set, then we then hit up some of the pavilions which close earlier – the living seas, land boat ride, and Spaceship Earth again. The living seas is Nemo, and it also has aquariums, with sharks, dolphins, sea horses, eels, a whole school of Nemos, and manatees. The manatees were really cool to see, as we watched them eat heads of Romaine lettuce. They were rescue animals, having both met with the wrong side of a boat. The land tour is a boat ride is a behind the scenes look at agriculture. The kids had fun picking out various fruits and vegetables grown within the greenhouse. There was even a sweet potato “tree” as they had suspended the plant so that the produce grew downward. Some of the produce grown there is used for the foods sold throughout kitchens in the parks. Since the kids were really well-behaved today, and working with us, we decided to hit a THIRD park in one day. We were just going to go back to the hotel to swim, but they both wanted to go back to Hollywood. Brandon wanted to go on the roller coaster, and we wanted to go back on Tower of Terror, meaning we had to convince Peyton again to do it. She was very reluctant, but agreed after I told her we’d go to ice cream for her afterward. We got fast passes for TOT, then headed to eat dinner. I had another salad, Dave joined me this time, and the kids ate turkey sandwiches on whole wheat. They also had carrots and applesauce. I think this is one of the few kids’ meals they’ve eaten since we’ve been here. After dinner, we got on TOT. Poor Peyton was shaking, as she knew what the ride entailed now. Brandon and I each had a hand on her, and since I was in the middle of the ride, and not the end like last time, I caught air! I was trying to push Peyton down, too, but I think she was also airborne. Brandon said he tried to help her, but his pins necklace was floating up and hitting his arm. She still likes to throw her arm up in the air rodeo-style, though the arm closest to me was on my leg, like my hand was on hers. She was happy to get off the ride, and as promised, we went to get ice cream, while Dave and Brandon went to wait for the roller coaster. She chose chocolate ice cream, which I had sandwiched between two cookies. I let her eat the ice cream, while I ate one cookie. I saved the bottom one for either Dave or Brandon. The line now for them was very short, and since we still had time, I took Peyton to see the Little Mermaid stage show. I didn’t want her to have tarnished memories of being scared in this park, so we ended on a good note. She’d seen the show last time, but she was really into it, and loved the music. We ended the show, and I told her it was time for us to leave. She was trying to stall, and trying to convince me other rides were open. I told her the only one that was was the fireworks. She said, “I don’t like fireworks!” So that was it, we headed to the entrance to meet Dave. Initially, I was going to take the boat back, but after eating that cookie, I decided to walk with her.  Since the boys were not too far behind, we waited for them.  They got off the roller coaster, and then went on TOT again!  Apparently, it’s a random falling of the elevator, so each time is a bit different.

I asked Dave if he thought Brandon could handle the walk, and he said he could. When Brandon found out we were walking, he took off running! Dave and I looked at each other and almost “row-sham-bowed” mentally to decide who would chase after him. Dave told me Brandon had to go potty, so he was fueled by that. I’d never seen him run so fast! He kept looking back, so I decided to run after him. In my flip flops. Suddenly, I heard baby girl giggling, and turned around to see Dave and Peyton passing me. I couldn’t keep up! Dave passed Brandon, while I caught up to Brandon. We walked for a little bit, then he took off running again. He was so happy to be beating me! When we got to our hotel, he even told me, “I did it! I beat you for the first time!” I told him I was wearing flip flops, and he said, “And those are lighter, so you should be faster!” Hahah…ya, he got me. The kids bathed and got to bed within 20 minutes. Peyton was out before Dave got out of his shower, while Brandon flopped around a bit, but fell asleep before I finished the blog. Tomorrow we are going to try to eat at “Be Our Guest” the new restaurant that is themed in the Beast’s castle. The sit down dinner dining is super fancy and has reservations booked out SIX months! It wasn’t even open when we came in November, so it’s ridiculous! We will try to stand-by for table seating for lunch, but we’ll see how it goes. Dave may just wait while I take the kids around and do rides. Hopefully it’s worth it, but from what we hear, it totally is.
