Hand-Me Downs

Peyton isn’t a fan, especially if it is from her brother. Fortunately, she hasn’t had to have too many things passed down from him, but a few, like his bike, safety pads, and helmet. The last time she had bike day, she didn’t ride. When I went to get her, she was outside, just standing around.  Ms Elena and Tarez reminded me about bike day, but they remembered she didn’t really participate. I told them it was because she didn’t like her helmet.  Something about it not matching her outfit, or being Brandon’s.  Ms Elena came up with a good suggestion to decorate her helmet with stickers.  Genius!  While we were walking out, I asked Peyton if she thought that was a good idea.  She was very enthusiastic about it, but told me she had to finish her Spanish worksheet that she was working on yesterday.  So after dinner, after she finished her worksheet, I scrambled to find some stickers.  We usually have them ALL over the place, but of course, when I’m looking for them, they are never around.  I grabbed one that was from a random doctor’s or dentist’s appointment.  I had to cut Pooh and Piglet out, since the sticker in its original form would be too big.  She didn’t care where they went, as I tried to get her to help me place them.  I found some Jake and the Neverland Pirates stickers from Jos’ wedding.  Dave wondered why I would get Jake!  I glared at him, as Peyton’s was excited about them. She asked me to put Skully on there.  I had to ask her which one that was (the parrot).  I asked her, “Do you want this one? (pointing to the other boy pirate)”  She said, “No, that’s Cubby. I want Izzy.”  I knew that was the girl.  Then she said, “How about Jake, you know who he is, right?”  Sheesh!  She’s mocking me already!   Then she asked for the gold de-blooms and said, “Those are small, so they can go anywhere.”  We were limited on space, so after the gold de-blooms, she was happy with how it turned out.  The final straw was when she peeled Brandon’s label off, and we put one on with her name.  Now it’s official Peyton’s helmet.  Hopefully she’ll wear it tomorrow; I hope she does if I drag that bike in there to and from school.
