Busy Weekend

Yesterday I took Peyton to a Sydney’s house for a playdate.  Neha had just arrived as well, and the girls all were excited to swim.  The water was a bit chilly, but once inside, it didn’t take long to get comfy.  The girls were all in swim lessons, and it made it nice that they were all able to play around.  In fact, they were jumping off the edge, and Peyton finally go to do her cannonball!  She was comfortable in the water, and even got to swim the width on her back.  She choked on water a couple of times, but luckily, everything stayed down.  We took a break for pizza by the pool, along with the fruit we’d brought.  Then, it was back at it.  They also had fun in the hot tub, which was too hot after coming in from the cooler side.  Finally, Neha’s dad was throwing the girls in, and they were all doing cannonballs!  We wrapped up outside, then Neha left with her family to get ready for Tanishka’s birthday party.  Sydney and Peyton went into Sydney’s room, and shared a bowl of goldfish while playing with Sydney’s toys.  After a couple of games of this squirrel game that Sydney had, with each girl winning one game, we said our goodbyes.  Peyton was sad to leave, but Sydney told her, “If you listen to your mommy, the whole way back in the car, then next time when I got to your house, I will bring the squirrel game.”  (We’d previously invited Sydney over to play at our house, so she wasn’t just inviting herself over.)  Peyton agreed to that plan, thus we had no tears on our way back home.  Sydney said, “See you at the party!” But I had to remind her we couldn’t go, since we had plans.  Peyton was a bit sad until I told her she was having dinner with Grandma. Peyton did a great job playing nicely, so I told her I’d be happy to take her to Theresa’s party the next day.  We came home, and Dave and my mom were chatting while Brandon was taking a nap.  He told Dave he was tired when they were doing their errands, and he’d slept an hour before we’d gotten home and made too much noise.  Peyton and I got showered up, and I started getting ready for our date night.  Peyton changed into her jammies, and was ready for bed.  Soon after, Dave and I told the kids “We’re leaving!”  Both kids jumped up and started to get ready to head out.  Brandon had his shoes on before we figured out what was going on!  They thought they were going with us!  Haha…we told the kids what the deal was, and we gave them a kiss goodnight.  They didn’t complain, and Brandon took his shoes off, now understanding what was going on.  Dave and I got to the winery early, and it wasn’t even open yet!  We’d decided to get dinner there instead of rushing to eat somewhere else.  Once we were let in, we were seated by the edge of the terrace, overlooking the entire south bay.  It was great!  It was a three-course menu, and we got to pick our starter, entree, and best of all, dessert.  We’d picked the location based on the dessert.  There were two other menus, thus locations, we could’ve picked, but luckily, we’d both seen something we liked at the same place 😉  So, we had an uninterrupted dinner of ahi poke, braised short ribs, and chocolate mousse tort for me, with clams, crab cakes, and a cheese plate for Dave.  Dave’s cheese plate was big enough for a party of four!  He couldn’t get through half of it before tapping out!  Here are the pics I’d taken of each of our courses:

Pictured is only half of the proteins given, since I’d forgotten to take a photo before we each split our food in half for the other! Then, we headed out, stuffed, to wander around.  We found our way to the seats, and then the show started pretty much on time!  We had seats pretty close, but off to the side.  Most of the songs we’d recognized, as they are an a cappella group which sings cover songs.  They were discovered on youtube, so right off the bat, they encouraged pictures and most of all video.  The show was great, and we enjoyed ourselves!  We left to head out after the show, and then headed over to the merchandise area to consider getting a shirt.  Then, we found out that Straight No Chaser was coming out to autograph memorabilia.  Dave got two shirts, and had the entire group (all 10 guys) sign it.  They were really friendly and gracious.  We headed home, and my mom gave us the report.  Peyton fell asleep right away, as I’d thought, since she’d not napped and had an active day.  Brandon had slept, so he did stay up a little later, though he was in his bed.  My mom stayed overnight, and she’d warned the kids not to come out, which they did not.  At 11 pm, with all of us talking, Peyton came out.  She told Dave, “I’m thirsty, but Grandma told me not to go downstairs.”  I went to get her some water, and she went back to sleep.
