I went to school early with Brandon to sign him up for chess club. There were already 20 people ahead of me, and I arrived 30 minutes before the “actual” sign-ups were to start. I chatted with one of his friend’s moms who was signing him up, too. We both got the boys into the same session, and I’m sure Brandon will be happy. After I signed him up, I waited for Brandon who was still in CDC. We then headed over to flag salute, then I met with two other moms to talk about our project for reading books in the classroom. We met for a little over an hour, then I headed to the gym. I was planning to run 6 miles, but with a full plate of stuff to do today, I decided to do just 3, but then pick Brandon up by walking to get him. I did some work for our project, then headed back to get Brandon. I wanted him to navigate us back home. He did okay, but kept asking why he’d ever have to come home by himself. I told him just in case there was an emergency or something. I hope he’d never have to do it, as he needs help still. We were reviewing our address in the process, and I learned he still doesn’t have a good grasp on that. He still stuck on the city of his first residence! Finally, I asked him where he plays baseball, and then he was able to tell me. When we got home, he told me he’d checked out Percy Jackson, which is like 500 hundred pages! He said he just wants to know what the book is about, and wants to read it to himself. I asked him if he’s scared to read it at all, and he said he wasn’t. We’ll see if he gets through it. We went to get Peyton, who was having a birthday party. She was given a cupcake with a heaping glob of frosting. She ate the whole thing. It was so gross to watch. Brandon wanted some too, but I told him he could have something else after dinner tonight. He didn’t throw a fit, and even declined the offer from both the teachers and the birthday boy’s parents. We’re waiting for Dave to come home so we can go out to eat.

While we were coming home with Peyton, I was quizzing Brandon again about our address.  Peyton then chimed in and said, “Brandon, what’s Daddy’s cell phone number?”  Brandon didn’t know, and then she smugly repeated it for him.  I asked her mine, and she told me that, too.  Still, if ever they are lost, I hope they stick together.  One to know the information, then other to tell a stranger.
