Dave bought Brandon a rolling backpack, but it didn’t arrive until last week. I didn’t want him to take it last week because it wasn’t properly labelled. As soon as Dave wheeled it into the house last week, Brandon noticed the wheels lit up. Dave didn’t want to mention it because he didn’t want Brandon to play with the wheels. When Dave set it down, Brandon went to read the description on the card attached to the bag. He confirmed the wheels were supposed to light up and told Dave right away. Dave tried to hide his surprise. We told him he could take it on Tuesday. He actually decided he didn’t want to take it because he was worried someone was going to ruin it. We told him he had to keep it nice until 5th grade, since his last backpack barely made it two years. He was playing with the telescoping handle, and we told him that would break first if he continued to mess around with it. He’s been careful all week, getting it in and out of my car, and rolling it instead of carrying as he’d tried to last week, defeating the purpose of the wheels. It’s pretty heavy, even empty, but rolling it is okay. It’s big enough for his lunch, water bottle, and a few books. Today, I went to pick him up, and he said he’d rather go to CDC instead of hanging out with me, doing errands (Costco) and getting his sister. They are working on a cardboard project, and he didn’t want to miss out. So, now I’m back at home, then will get some food for our back to school picnic on the grass. It’s weird having no kids on a Friday afternoon!
Here’s a pic he let me take before I rolled his backpack back to my car alone:
Makes him look like such a big kid!
