This morning was a rush to get Brandon to school. Peyton was sluggish from a late night and wasn’t that cooperative. Brandon was easy and ate breakfast pn his own. Dave left early since he had to come back early for Peyton’s performance. We got Brandon to school right as the bell had rung, which is our latest yet! We stayed for the assembly though it was super cold. Brandon wasn’t of course, but he was wearing an extra layer per his request. Peyton was easy at drop off. The kids were still inside the classroom. I headed to work for a few hours. Then left to get Brandon from school. We headed to the dentist. He had some xrays but I was filling in paperwork so no photos there. He did well because he was watching Turbo the whole time. After being told he had no cavities, I reminded him he had to replace Peyton’s tiara that he broke. The dental assistant told him to pick two things! He was in luck! He picked a parachute man for himself and find a pink tiara for Peyton. He wanted me to take him back to CDC because there was an auction they were having to spend the money they earn there. There was a set of Pokemon cards up for auction. He had $47 to spend, but his friend, who also wanted them, had $48. I told him how auctions work. I offered to get him a set of cards if he hung out with me and didn’t cause problems. He reluctantly agreed. It helped my mom was already at school when we got there. Curren, Orion’s brother, was there, too, and had an ipad. My mom went to go get hers and, both boys were set. Brandon’s got a pretty good grasp of time. He asked me when the performance started. And I told him what time it was, and he said, “What? That’s like an hour!” Luckily the principal let us in early since it was cold outside. I’d had a blanket in case, but Brandon just sat on it because of course he’s not cold. We enjoyed the performance, with Dave’s arrival 10 minutes to show time. He and Sydney’s dad were trying to plan it tightly to make the most of their work days. After the performance, we headed to eat ramen. Perfect for the cold day. Then Peyton and I headed up to the Nutcracker performance. This is the same ballet company we saw last year with Mckayla, but this year we were coming to SEE Mckayla! We beat the Kao’s there, but they arrived a few minutes later. Marcus and Peyton didn’t want to sit next to each other and were both being shy. Peyton was fidgety while the lights were on, but as soon as they went out, she sat nicely in her seat. In fact, when I tried to talk to her, she was kind of annoyed at me!! At intermission, I whisked her to the potty again. We had gone before the show started, but Mckayla was in the second half, and I didn’t want to leave. Michelle told me Mckayla was telling her how Peyton can do it next year. I had a hard time spotting Mckayla because all the girls had tight buns in their hair, but I did see her smile. I told Peyton what Mckayla had suggested about her doing it next year, and Peyton shushed me!! She put her finger to her lips and said, “Shhhh!” I think she would really like it! I reminded her that Mckayla had to practice a lot, but it paid off because she did a great job! After the show, Peyton was happy to give Mckayla the flowers we brought for her. She’d gotten her own after her performance, but I have it to her in the car to not embarrass her. Her face lit up as did Mckayla’s. Unfortunately, she tried to give Peyton a hug, but Peyton kept backing up. She is averse to touching others besides family. She refused to hold hands at the end of the performance for their finale and bow. She’s just like the character, Sheldon!
After we got home, I packed up to head out of town to celebrate Dave’s birthday, while Peyton changed and went to bed. Brandon was already asleep. I told him he could stay up until 9 but Dave got him down by 815 pm with only a slight complaint. Then, he was out. My mom said she didn’t hear another word. We headed out in the rain, but still made good time! 1.5 hours. We’ll go wine-tasting tomorrow then an early dinner.
Thanks for the flowers. Mckayla loved them! Wow! 1.5 hours like you had predicted.
