Yesterday, Peyton had her first piano lesson. It’s a rec class, so there were 5 others there. She was her shy self, but we did introduce ourselves to the first girl we saw in class, Julia. Peyton did a reasonable job listening to the instructions that were given in class. The class was 45 minutes long, but it went by quickly! We were introduced to Mozart and Beethoven, a mouse and bear, respectively. There were 3 girls and 3 boys, and I think Peyton may have been one of the older kids in the room. We were assigned some homework, and given some early lessons about music abbreviations, like what p and f mean. We’re also supposed to work on posture and hand position at home. She’s still interested in it, and she was willing to do her piano homework after we came home with Brandon. Brandon was doing his own math, and he kept asking Peyton questions about what she was learning. Then he asked if he could take piano, too! Hmm….we’ll have to squeeze that into his sports schedule.
Today was Brandon and Dave’s first game of the basketball season. It’s amazing how much better Brandon got in one year! Dave got him a basketball hoop which was an early birthday present, and he set it up by Thursday. Brandon shot a few baskets on Friday, and Dave declared he couldn’t miss from 4 feet out. Brandon had better court-sense during today’s game, making 2 baskets, and grabbing 3 rebounds, at least. He’s playing more aggressively, and he looks like he’s having fun out there!
