Golf Outing

Well, mini golf anyway. Today was my first day with Peyton at mini golf. We came for one of Peyton’s classmates and good friends, Neha. We arrived early, as requested to check in. I kept trying to ask Peyton to convince Dave to come with her, since it was a sporting event. But Peyton stayed true to her loyalty and requested I come with her. We checked in with Sydney, Orion, and took Neha along with our foursome. The girls tried their hardest, but some of the holes were too challenging. The first few holes the girls tried to hit every ball, and the parents didn’t think we’d ever get out of there. When it proved too hard, they were content to pick up the ball and get it into the hole in some fashion or another. Actually, to Peyton’s credit, she got a hole in one, on the same hole (she played it once with her first round, and another time with Vivian when she got there). When she putted with Vivian, she was showing Vivian how to do it. She ricocheted it off the fence to get it into the flattened pyramid, then it rolled into the hole. I think Brandon and I each took over 10 shots to get it into something like that the first time we went out there. Vivian’s dad’s mouth was just wide open. The pace picked up as they started throwing balls into the targets in later holes. Without help, there was no way they were going to hit it hard enough to beat the slope of the course. Actually, one, Peyton hit it so hard, it bounced into the street. She was two holes deep, and the other family closer to the fence couldn’t figure out how she got it to bounce that far. It took this weird bounce off the sidewalk, and then took off! There was a little breakdown drama, which I don’t even understand what was going on, but I had to pull her aside to calm down. It was embarrassing for me and I’m sure her, but more me because all the parents were around. But I wasn’t going to let her get away with throwing attitude around. Finally, we finished up golf, and we headed in to the tent for food. It wasn’t quite ready, so we got some water and hung out with friends. Peyton was back in good spirits by then, and I had to warn her of that kind of behavior tomorrow. She told me, “I know,” and then we moved forward. Pizza arrived, and everyone gobbled it up. Cake and singing were next. After they devoured cake, the kids were all given a card to play games. Peyton ran in and pretended to play on a motor bike. The girls are so small, 2-3 of them fit on one bike! Peyton found skeeball, and she honed her fastpitch softball skills! She was able to earn a few tickets with this as well, and again Vivian’s dad happened to see her. He was impressed by her skeeball technique, and even commented on how well she was doing. Luckily Peyton didn’t hear him (I think), otherwise she may have stopped altogether.  She also went on a snowmobile ride, which blew air into her face to make the ride more realistic.  It was funny to see her hair blowing back, and it was in her eyes, making her squint a bit.

Here are the pictures and video.
We’ll see some of the same people tomorrow!
