CNY

Today started very early. Actually, with the growing pains last night, it started last night, as I went to stay with Peyton to calm the pains down. Of course, when I’m in her bed, especially now that the rail isn’t there for me to lean on, I’m not able to sleep well. I got up and got myself ready for work. I was there by 7 am, while Dave got the kids to school. I got off a little after 330 pm, then headed to pick up Peyton and then Brandon. I told both kids how I needed it to be quiet during our drive or at least no fighting. When Frozen is on, it’s never “quiet”. But our drive went well, despite traffic, and the kids were nice to each other, despite not having anything else but the CD to keep them occupied. Brandon did tell me about his friend, Albert, who passed out red envelopes with a gold coin to each child. It’s a one dollar coin, Brandon said. He also told me his teacher at CDC passed out a chocolate one, but he said he gave it to his friend Tyler. I asked why he did that. He said, “I didn’t want to eat it, because I don’t know her that well.” I told him she’s his teacher. He told me, “But yea, I don’t ‘know her, know her’, like I don’t know her friends or anything.” I can’t really be sure unless I ask Tyler, so I’ll have to take his word for it. We made it up to the city by 5:30pm, almost 2 hours after I was done with work! My mom was there already, and they were just finishing up with MJ. Brandon knew he had homework to do, so he got his spelling done with Peyton’s help. She gave him the words, and then checked his work after. While she was grading his work, he went into the room to read from his computer program. Dinner was ready while Brandon was reading, so he stopped to take a food break. The kids got started in the kitchen first, and both ate their share. Brandon has a thing against red meat lately, so he didn’t eat the lop cheung, while Peyton did. Brandon only ate the chicken, and didn’t eat the other pork pieces my mom had given. Both loved my grandma’s scallop and fungus soup, though I didn’t tell them it was fungus. I’d brought them clothes, and both took showers there, then brushed teeth. Brandon asked me why they were taking a bath there. I told him if he did, he could stay longer. He seemed to agree with that logic and did what he was told. We hung out a bit longer, then took off by 730pm. Brandon was excited about his money that he’d received. He was able to count it all up properly, and discussed what he would do with it. He said he was going to take $10 and spend them on Pokemon cards. I asked what he was going to do with them when he is in high school. He said, “Well, I’m just going to show MY kids. But MUCH, MUCH later.” (I was hoping he wasn’t going to show his kids the cards while he was in high school…) Dave and I took off in two separate cars. Both kids stayed awake during the car ride home, and they were busy talking to each other the whole way back. Dave was surprised no one fell asleep! He beat us home, then ushered kids up to bed. It’s 9pm, and a little later than usual, but hopefully they can keep it together for one more day. There’s movie night tomorrow, and the kids were busy reviewing the movie (DM2), talking about the minions, and which turned purple first (Brandon says Dave), and who El Macho was. Then, Brandon told Peyton, “Let’s just watch it tomorrow. Let’s not give it away anymore.”
