Brandon came home today from school, after a 2-week hiatus, and the arrival of Baby Sister. Dave said the teacher said he did fine. He even slept 2 hours at naptime, which is great for us tonight, it means he’s well-rested!! The truth will come out tomorrow when Dave meets with our regularly scheduled parent pep-talks with the director. Brandon was so happy to be home; I gave him a BIG hug, telling him I missed him. I asked him if he had washed his hands, and he said, “I washed them at school; I did it already.” Dave still took him to wash again; he didn’t put up any fight. He was just his usual self, playing with his legos (he didn’t forget the agreement from this morning), and very loveable. Peyton had just gone down to the crib, and Brandon wanted to see her. We told him she was sleeping and could see him later. He was fine with that, too. He heard a noise on the monitor and said, “I think Baby Sister threw up.” I assured him this wasn’t the case, but thanked him for being so concerned. Let’s hope the rest of the night is just as fun (it’s only 530pm now, and we have to eat dinner)! Dave’s parents are still here, so they will get to see another night of action in our new household. Brandon’s teacher gave two presents to us – one for Brandon, the other for Peyton. For Brandon, she got him a “Big Brother Book” (Bonnie had given him the same one for Xmas, which we’ve already read to him at least a dozen times; it has been very helpful, because everything in the book totally applies to him). When he opened the second item, he said, “Hey, they’re firetruck jammies!” She totally knows him too, since they are 4T!! Brandon helped us open Peyton’s present, too – a furry sleeper!
Addendum: So it’s about 923pm, and Brandon has been asleep for about 1 hour!! We had dinner, and he kept telling us, “Baby Sister is waking up!” in hopes of a holding or a sighting at least. He was so well-behaved at dinner
– even asking, “Please may I have some milk?” without being prompted, “How do you ask?” He was in the highchair for lack of space, and after he was done, said, “Please may you excuse me?” After he is done eating, when we think he’s had enough, then we “release” him. He played for awhile with his toys, then took an early shower so he was ready for Julie and Robert’s visit. They came over and brought yummy pastries! I had forewarned Brandon about the treats, so he was looking forward to it! Dave was still getting him ready in his jammies when they arrived. Julie said, “I hear you, Brandon!” Brandon replied, “I hear you, Auntie Julie!” Brandon came out, and Robert was holding a toy they had for him. It was a bulldozer, and as soon as Brandon saw it, he immediately grabbed it. Robert had to ask him how he knew it was his! Brandon wanted to play with it immediately, which was nice, so Robert and Julie could hold the baby. We took pictures of the baby with Julie and Robert, then Brandon, who was busy playing, turned and said, “Don’t flash in my eye.” Ok, superstar! Dave continued on with the bedtime routine after Brandon had his pastry (only 1/3 of an apricot one). He read his two books, and then turned off the lights by 825pm. I was so surprised how early it was. Dave said he didn’t put up a fight, and was probably tired from a busy day. We were still chatting with the Chang’s and Dave’s parents, when we heard some noise coming out of Brandon’s room. We’re normally supposed to ignore anything he says after lights out, but I was curious what he was trying to tell us. We heard a faint, “Close the door a little bit!” Oh, I felt terrible!! He really was trying to go to sleep, and we were disturbing him! He normally HATES having the door closed, so this was some serious request he was making. Dave went in and apologized for our noise and closed the door halfway. We’re on our way! We’ve got two sleeping kids right now, and it’s only 930pm! Yippee!
