Successful playdate!

Decki came over with Andrew today, despite the rain.  The boys exchanged Christmas gifts, which was really cute to see.  Decki gave Brandon his first, then Brandon returned the favor, saying, “Here, Decki.”  We had some of Brandon’s cars out already, so they immediately started playing with those.  Brandon showed Decki the remote-controlled train we have around the tree.  Brandon played nicely as host, mostly letting Decki play with his toys.  There were a couple of conflicts, but they were resolved fairly quickly.  I decided to roll out the cookies myself, and let the boys decorate.  Dave still thinks it was too girly of an activity.  The agreement with Brandon was that he could eat one.  Apparently, the boy can’t count (well, he can, when it’s convenient for him).  He ended up eating at least two if not three.  Since there was still time remaining, and they were pretty much done, they went back to playing with the cars.  My premonition had come true – they started running the larger cars and vehicles into one another and the furniture, walls, etc.  I think the cookies and frosting probably fueled the frenzy.  They did have a more quiet moment when they stopped to drink milk/water.  They were both seated at the small table, talking quietly to each other.  Another cute moment was when Decki wanted Brandon to show him something in his room.  They both went back to Brandon’s room, leaving the three adults outside to wonder what the heck was going on in there.  Whenever it’s too quiet, you know there is something going on.  They’d pop out every One should know about Parasympathetic Nerve which has an important role and also have effect on generico levitra on line too. Sidenote: brought a rice cooker to the White Elephant, brought home a handband/reindeer antlers.  The boss stole it from another co-worker; he wanted it for his wife.  Too funny.  The antlers fit perfectly on Brandon’s head; I tested them out on him as soon as I got home from the dim sum gift exchange.  He left them on, ran to the mirror, then came back and said, “Thank you, Mommy.”   It was sweet, especially since I didn’t even prompt him, and he got so much joy out of the “gift.”   At least someone is getting to enjoy them.  They are quite festive, just not really my style.  Maybe Brandon can wear them when he sees Santa at the last holiday party we have on Wednesday.

Teaching the Value of $

Brandon started out with a “piggy” bank with plastic, brightly-colored coins that he’d chew on. We’ve now progressed to real money and glass piggy banks. Dave will give his change to Brandon so he could save for his police car, or whatever vehicle du jour. He’d also put change in that my mom had given him. When he wanted to get Decki a Christmas present, we told him we’d have to take money out of his piggy bank to pay for it. He was fine with that, even though it meant delaying his own purchase. Today, we emptied the banks, so we could sort the change – by coin type. Now that the banks are empty, Dave wants Brandon to EARN his money now. He has to do chores like throwing trash away and being helpful when Baby Sister is here. Right as they were leaving, Brandon said, “I can’t go because I don’t have enough energy.” Haha, it’s only 10am, and he woke up 2 hours ago. I think he was just kidding, because they left without any further discussion about him being tired.

A Busy Week!

This was my first week on maternity leave – it flew by! I am definitely doing more to keep busy than I ever did with Brandon, probably because of the time of year. I finished up the last of my Christmas shopping this week, wrapped all the gifts, and delivered some of them. We had our Secret Santa exchange midweek, and then ended the week with my dad’s office Christmas party on Friday night. We enjoyed a nice 5-course meal at a Chinese-French place in the city. Brandon even got his own 3-course special kids meal – two pot stickers, won ton soup, and then a huge plate of chicken, bok choy and noodles! That didn’t stop him from eating some of my puff pastry or part of the coconut where the soup was contained, digging into my lobster (we each got a whole lobster), my Peking duck bow-bow, or the aspargus that went with the Filet. He even ate some of the salad we got as our appetizer. Needless to say, it was a yummy dinner. I think he was starving because it was about 8pm when we started to eat dinner. Shoot, I was starving by then. He got his own big boy chair, and sat through dinner either eating or drawing on the place settings. He only slipped off the paper a couple of times (hope the restaurant has some good stain remover). We each got our own dessert, even him; I’m glad it felt healthy, since it was a peach mousse with raspberry coulis. We played some games – somehow we always manage to take part in the cash prizes. Nice winning (read: taking) money again from my dad! This year, Dave and I made out with $100 – thanks to Dave’s charades rendition of “Home Alone”. I guessed from his clue and won the table of 8 of us each $50. Then we also won the Scavenger Hunt to find the business cards stashed throughout the restaurant. Brandon did ok through the games, but freaked out a bit when Dave had left the room as part of one of the games. He screamed, “Daddy…I want Daddy.” My mom tried to calm him down, which he did until one of the other games require that a “man kiss a man” so Dave grabbed Brandon (from my mom) and kissed him on the cheek. We were ruled against as Yolanda said Brandon wasn’t a man (yet). Dave tried again and kissed my dad on the head, but Yolanda wasn’t having that either, another two men had already sealed the deal (we didn’t win the “subjective” games, given we were at the boss’ table. I wish I had had a camera out and had been fast enough to see Dave peck the top of my dad’s head (he was seated at the time). Anything for cash, right?
The last event was the gift exchange. I got a set of bowls, a set of speakers, and a squishy stress ball. Dave got my parents’ re-gifts from last year (my mom forgot to bring them last year, so she brought them again this year). He wanted the iPod docking station, as my mom said it was twice the value of the requested amount for gifts. Unfortunately, someone else wanted it, too. And it was stolen twice. Then Dave got stuck with gift #2 – a lighted stand mirror, like the kind you use to put make-up on. It’s too big for Dave to use to cut his hair, so today we returned it to one of the stores, which surprisingly still had it available (remember, my mom bought it last year!).
We decided not to stay over my parents’ house last night even though we had another party at their house today at lunchtime; we’re still working on the sleep training and that would have probably set us back. So we drove home last night, around midnight, and plopped Brandon into his own bed. Dave woke me up at 7am because he turned on his laptop, so I started watching the rest of my rented movie. About an hour later, I saw the handle on our door being pushed down. It looked like a ghost was coming in, like the handle was possessed. Well, it was Brandon, coming in around 815am, looking so proud of himself. “I slept in my own bed,” he declared. We brought him up to the bed, and he started watching cartoons. We started to get ready early, so we could go back to my parents’ house. We dropped Brandon off with my mom and went to run some errands. We got these pans that are eco-friendly, safe-cooking non-stick pans. Then we also went to get Brandon’s gift from Santa. Oops, so I wasn’t completely done shopping for Christmas gifts. We got him a Lego ambulance and a fire truck so that he can add it to his Lego/Duplo collection. My mom went out with Brandon for some groceries for the party, and also picked up some things for our playdate with Decki tomorrow (more on that later). When we got back to the house, we started prepping the meat for the party. Some of my dad’s ex and current employees were coming over for an MJ party. My dad asked us over to help cook (we’re earning our keep). Of course, the other half of the family decided to come late, and just showed up whenever they wanted, not contributing anything to the cooking or serving. Whatever. Anyways, after they had all eaten, they started playing poker. I took this opportunity to have Brandon take a nap. I used some of our new-found techniques and asked him if he wanted to take a nap in my old room or the guest room (he had to take a nap no matter what, that wasn’t negotiable). I also used my “when/then” meaning “when you take a nap, then you may watch cartoons”. After testing out my bed and the couch in the family room, he selected the guest bed. He wanted Mickey pillow, oops, but I told him we didn’t have it here, so I gave him a choice of the VS pink doggie or my star pillow (teenie bopper things, I didn’t have much to work with). He chose both; I covered him up with a soft throw, which he first resisted, then felt and wanted to be covered up. He said, “I want you to sleep here, Mommy,” while he patted the bed next to him. I told him I wasn’t going to nap with him, and I walked out of the room, closing the door behind me. He didn’t resist! I was shocked. I walked back upstairs and Dave and my mom were amazed that I had come back so fast. About 5 minutes later, Dave went back downstairs to check. I found him sitting in the family room alone. Again, shocked. My mom came down to find both of us sitting in silence. The door was cracked a little bit, so we could see inside. He was quiet, occasionally sitting up, but he remained inside the room. Two minutes passed, and we looked in the crack again, and he was out. I was so proud of him!! It only lasted about 1 hour, since the girls came down to play MJ and were a bit loud. I gave Brandon a big hug for taking a nap all by himself. True to my word, we watched Bug’s Life when he was more awake. He was still yawning, so I knew he was tired, but at least he got an hour in. We didn’t stay too long, leaving around 730pm, so we could head home for the usual nightly routine. I think we’re finally making a break-through!!
Tomorrow, I have my department White elephant gift exchange and dim sum, and then Decki’s coming over for a playdate and we’re going to make and decorate sugar cookies, and then we have Dave’s birthday dinner with the rest of the family after that! Another full day. I hope the playdate goes well – it’ll be the first time Decki has come here (compared with the 3 times we’ve been there). We’ve been a little hesitant to have them come here, but Brandon has been asking, “Can Decki come over to our house?” Decki’s house is 10x the size of ours, so I had to come up with something that could hopefully “contain” them. I made some cookie dough with Brandon on Thursday, and bought a bunch of decorating stuff for them. We picked out all the cookie cutters that interested Brandon – Carolyn had given us a humongous set for our wedding – but Brandon fished out the train, car, and truck ones, and he wanted some of the letters – so we have “B”, “C” and “D” for Brandon, Caiden (Decki’s brother), and Decki. We also pulled out “M” for Mommy, and “A” for Amy, Decki’s mom’s name. I told him we only had so much room in the ziploc bag so we had to limit his choices. After some negotiation, we fit about a dozen or so shapes. I prepared him and told him that Decki is our guest, so he gets the first pick in what shapes he wants to use and that they have to share. Decki’s dad said part of the appeal with Brandon and Decki is that it is a love/hate relationship. So I have to prepare for that, and teach Brandon how to be a good host. We shall see!

Thanks, Uncle Robert!

Set on an ambulance

Today, we were driving back from school, and Brandon said, “Oh, the Christmas tree is up!” as he pointed to the tree that was up in the square.  I told him it’s up because it’s almost Christmas-time.  He said, “Then I can open my ambulance!”  I said, “Who gave you an ambulance?”  He said, “Auntie Suong!”  We saw Suong yesterday, and she brought Brandon a present, which we immediately put under the tree.  Brandon will have to wait until Christmas time to open it.  I asked Brandon, “What if it’s not an ambulance?”  He said, “It’s an ambulance.”  I’m sure he’ll love whatever is in the package; I think Santa is bringing Brandon an ambulance. It’s just funny that he insisted that it was Auntie Suong that got it for him.

“Converstations”

So we had the “old folks” dinner party tonight, but we missed The Kao’s, since Meimei was in the “hostable”.  [We call it the “old folks” party, since it’s some of the older school work people; there aren’t any “kids” in attendance.  They think we sit around and discuss all our health-related ailments and eat soft, mushy foods.]  We are sending her our best and wish her a speedy recovery.  Dave had no one to open a bottle of wine for, and then had to coerce Stuart and the Chang’s to drink coffee with him.  He wouldn’t have had to worry about either had Michelle and Ted been here.  While we were eating, Bonnie asked us if we may have had a misspelling in our Christmas card.  Dave thought that he had a syntax error, but in fact, Bonnie was trying to nicely put that Dave had created a new word!  You see, Dave was in charge of the Christmas cards this year.  He said I was “supposed” to have edited it, but he conveniently hit send to order the cards before I had a chance to look them over.  Had he let me read it, I would hopefully had caught that Brandon was having “converstations” with Santa.  Dave said maybe he had Thomas the Train on his mind when he typed it out.  Oh well, it’s like that one year for Halloween that I put the wrong year because I was working on a calendar for the next year around the same time.  We’ve got a lot on our minds, so it’s just an accomplishment that we sent them out, despite the new language that we’re creating 🙂
So back to dinner – Dave made a bone-in pork loin that he stuffed with sausage, dried fruit, pine nuts stuffing with brandy and clementine zest, Manchego cheese-garlic mashed potatoes, steamed aspargus, salad and Where to Buy Melanotan II There are a few cialis prescription places to flip to unless the case could be a crisis. Robert showed Dave the infamous “We’ve been elfsita’d”.  Dave finally got to see what we’ve all been talking about – Robert’s pearly-white grin and Julie’s lasso-ing technique.  So after some good “converstation”, good food and good cheer, we wrapped up the evening.  It was quite late for Brandon, so he was bathed, read to, and then he fell asleep on his own.  This setting limits thing seems to be working out – let’s home he lasts through the night, too.  We definitely need to be more strict with the bedtime routine – this is one area that we totally need to work on.  Soon, there won’t be enough room for Dave to fit in Brandon’s bed, and it’s sad for him to sleep on the floor.  It does mean that I have to share my bed again, alas.

Babysitting Old School

Last night, we had Dave’s Christmas party up in the City.  My mom and dad, our usual go-to babysitters, are in LA, so we went with plan B.  My grandmother, aunt and uncle live up in the City, too.  They didn’t mind watching Brandon while we went out.  We got there midday just to hang out, and then brought our clothes to change when it was time to leave.  We left before they had a chance to eat dinner, so Brandon wanted to come with us.  We told him he was going to stay with Tai-Po, and Auntie Jean and Uncle Gary.  He was ok with it, I suppose, we just said a quick goodbye and told him we’d come back and pick him up afterward.
When we got home, he was fast asleep on the couch with the soft fuzzy blanket Uncle Kenny and Auntie Rachel got him.  We hadn’t used it since he was a wee lad, but figured he needed something warm and snuggly.  My Anxiety, stress, depression, injury, physical incompetence and much more can be the reason tadalafil overnight delivery devensec.com behind this disorder. Sibling prep class

With the start of my maternity leave today, I was busier than ever!  One of the activities of the day was to attend a sibling preparation class for Brandon.  It was technically for 3-8 year olds, but when I spoke with the instructor to enroll him, she said he was close enough.   He got shy when she asked him his name to check him off, but when she went around the room to ask how old everyone was and it was his turn to answer, he said, “I’m 2 and a half!”  He was the youngest there.   It was pretty informal, she had all the kids sit around a semi-circle around her in the front.  He is used to this from school.  He was a bit distracted by the plug covers in the middle of the floor; he kept looking back at us, but all in all he was able to listen to most of the story that the teacher read.  There was also a really outdated video that they watched.  I think just to expose him to the other kids who were going to be big brothers and sisters was good.  Then they had some dolls that were pretty life-like.  They were about 19″, the average length of a real baby.  They only weighed about 3 lbs.  So the kids were all to grab one of the dolls and then help “change” the diaper (one kid blurted out, “Pampers!” which I was really impressed, given the oldest was only 6!).  They wiped the bottom, then put the diaper back on, and finally swaddled the baby in the blanket.  Dave was on hand to help with this, but Brandon did a great job!  He also “burped” the baby over his shoulder.  When it was time to put the babies back, Brandon stood up and carried the baby, by the leg, over to the bin.  Halfway there, he said, “Whoa, it’s too heavy.”  We’ll have to take baby steps to have Brandon care for Baby Sister.  The teacher talked about how sometimes Mommy will have to be with the baby, but other times, there will be alone time with Mommy and/or Daddy.  She mentioned that when Mommy is with the baby, Daddy will have time to take you to the park.  She asked, “Do you like to go to the park?  What do you like to do there?”  Mostly the older kids answered Erectile Dysfunction Treatment by viagra on line purchase opacc.cv surgery is the method in which length or girth can be increased by cutting the body tissues. One of the mothers asked what she should do because her daughter was already reverting to baby stuff (she was 3 years old and shorter than Brandon).  The mom said the daughter complained that her legs were broken and that she couldn’t walk, that she didn’t have teeth, so she needed baby food, and wanted milk all the time.  Wow, luckily Brandon hasn’t exhibited that at all, yet.  We had a parent/teacher conference at school today, and some of the behaviors that Brandon had before (attention-getting) are still acting up.  This will probably get worse when Baby Sister arrives.  We were even encouraged to go to parenting classes to interact with other parents and get more strategies on how to curb the behavior.  I think we need more consistency – Dave and I are pretty strict here.  But when Brandon sees Grandma, all bets are off!  He won’t even come to us, he knows he can get away with anything with her.  It’s beginning to take its toll at school now, so I stressed to her how important it is for her to be on the same page with us, and not just make us the bad guys.  It’s really ironic too because she was a teacher when we were growing up, and she was also very strict with us!  Now she’s “forgotten” how to set limits with Brandon.  Anyways, at the end of the sibling prep class, they all got to draw pictures for their new siblings.  Brandon drew Baby Sister a “roller coaster”.  He was quite proud of it.  He stopped suddenly when the teacher offered them a snack.  She told them they could each have one small can of juice and a graham cracker.  Brandon obediently walked over and grabbed one of each.  He just needed a little help to open both, but other than that, he was fine.  He seems to do much better around older kids than he does with kids of his own age or younger, which is the set-up in his classroom.  We need to channel all his energy for positive things!

“Is this the Espress?”

This week, we got Polar Express in the mail from the movie subscription that Kenny and Rachel got us last year.  We waited all the way until now to redeem it to save up on movies we missed over the past year.  We thought this was a great seasonal movie for Brandon.  He loved it – it has trains, Christmas stuff, and Santa.  The last song of the movie is by Josh Grobin.  Now, There are two types of enzymes available in the blood to travel to the penis, it forms penis to get weaker and hence loosen the strength to become brand cialis 20mg rigid. Todai sucks!

Dave wanted to go to Todai for his birthday tonight.  So we went there, were about to be seated, then the waiter asked for Dave’s ID.  He wished him a happy birthday, then proceeded to tell us Brandon would be half price!  We asked how much that would be and he said, “Thirteen dollars.”  What?  Are you kidding me?  Dave was carrying Brandon, so the guy asked him to put him down, and said, “Yea, he’s over 3 feet.”  I told him, “Yea, he’s two,” but the guy said, “Over 3 feet is half-price.”  We told him, “No thanks,” and turned around and walked out.  There were only about 10 people in the whole restaurant.  Whatever.  We ended up going to a pizza place, so Dave could have him some wood-fired pizza.  The hostess sat us down, gave Brandon They designed “colored buckle program.” generic viagra on line In this program, the primary colors contain Bright, Yellow-colored, Red, Natural, Azure, Natural, Third Kyu Brown, Second Kyu Brown, First Kyu Brown, and First through 10th Black. Dave told me the teachers are asking for a parent-teacher conference to discuss Brandon’s behavior and how it relates to the upcoming arrival of Baby Sister.  Hmm…I wonder what we’re going to be discussing.  Whenever we attend parent-teacher conferences, I feel like we’re the ones being scolded.  I hope Brandon hasn’t been acting up – he seems fine at home.  He did tell me he cried yesterday after Dave dropped him off.  He also said he cried again this morning when Decki took his toy away from him.  We’ll soon find out, the conference is on Friday.
