Brandon’s teacher invited the moms to attend a post Mother’s Day breakfast in the classroom. Brandon apparently missed the memo, as he thought I was dropping him off at CDC. When I was walking toward the class, he was throwing a mini tantrum as to why he couldn’t go to CDC, since he’s not supposed to be on campus until 8 am. Sometimes he can follow the rules, and when he chooses to, he’s very serious about it. I finally told him about the breakfast, then he asked, “Wait, you’re coming?” I told him I was, then he got excited again. Good thing I did tell work that I wanted to attend, since he was excited about me coming. I don’t think he would’ve known any different if he had shown up to CDC, and then class later. We were the first to arrive, but we had to get something that Dave left last week. We did that first, then happened upon Sana and her mom. Sana was showing Brandon the spy book that she brought. He was checking it out, then another student arrived. Finally, Mrs D came, and Brandon ran over to her. I told him she was making her way to us, and he didn’t have to go up to her. When he realized that, he settled down, and we waited for her to open up the classroom. There was cereal, strawberries and croissants out on the table. As soon as we were invited to eat, Brandon headed straight for the sugary cereal. It’s the same one that served at Peyton’s school, so he must have missed it when he used to go there. He wanted a croissant, too, so he got one of those. Surprisingly, he didn’t want any strawberries. I poured myself some Cheerios, and then headed to sit with him. We watched the rest of his classmates come in, some with moms and some without. After the bell rang, I started to clean up. Brandon went over to the food table for round #2. I even told the teacher, who hardly ever sees Brandon eat, that he was eating a whole third breakfast, as he’d already had Cheerios and nuts at home. I wished him a good day, thanked the teacher again, then headed out to work. Breakfast put me back about 30 minutes; thankfully Dave took Peyton to school this morning. I was happy to have spent the morning with Brandon. I totally forgot to take pictures, but it was nice of the teacher to open up her classroom for this.
As soon as we got in the car, we heard the Imperial March from Star Wars. Dave was listening to classical yesterday on our ride home to “tame the beasts”. I asked Brandon if he knew what movie this was from. He said, “Star Wars, and John Williams was the composer.” I asked him how he knew this, and he said he learned it in music class. He continued, “He also did Jaws and Superman.” I had to take his word for it, since I was driving, and couldn’t confirm. He is just like his dad, who is interested in movie scores, too!
