Kid Pitch

Today was the first kid-pitch game of the season. We’ve not been present at the beginning of many games, I forgot they do the little league oath each time:

Here’s his first at-bat against Tyler, the other coach’s kid and former teammate of Brandon’s in basketball and the all-star team.

2 RBI single!
After three walks, Coach pitches again. Here’s Dave pitching

Final at bat:

The team lost, but it’s still fun to watch them play. I do like playing this team, as this is the coach who yelled at Brandon last summer threatening him that he’d never play again if he did a bone head move like “that” again. Brandon totally respects him and WANTS to play for his teams because he knows the kids won’t mess around on him. But I like hearing “Big Hitter” coming out of his mouth, telling his kids to move back when Brandon is up. Go get ’em, B.

I brought the kids home to eat dinner (for Brandon, Peyton ate at the game) and shower up. As we walked in the door, Brandon offered, “Drama was fun today!” I asked him why, and he said it’s because they’re practicing for the show now. He finally sees the bigger picture and is more engaged in drama now! He’s still not happy about “Just for Kids” as they talked about their “life plans” or something like that. I’m just glad he’s going. He’s mad that I signed him up for it since it takes away one recess per week. Other kids are in it, too, but I thought it was a good opportunity for character development. He does NOT agree.
