Singing! and Playing

Yesterday morning, while he was playing in his room with Legos, Brandon was practicing his songs. I tried to capture what I could, since if I ask him to sing it, he won’t.

Interplanet Janet. When I heard it later in the day, he doesn’t actually have to sing this part; it’s sung by the lead. But he knows it!

Work was a normal day, except at the end, there was a going away party for one of our docs who is retiring. I headed over to attend and brought a card we’d signed. From there, I left to get the kids for piano. Peyton went first, then Dave picked her up to take her home to do homework. I brought Brandon home, and he changed into his uniform then read for his required amount tonight. Dave took Peyton to practice, then he was going to keep her for his own Pirates practice, while I stayed with Brandon at his game. As they left, and Brandon finished up, I saw Peyton’s water bottle on the table. I shooed Brandon out so we could drop it off on our way to the game. We saw Sydney on their way in, and I handed the bottle off to Natalie, then we headed to the game. We were super early, as Brandon wasn’t supposed to be there until 445 pm. It was just after 430 pm. Coach Rick, of the other team, invited Brandon to go warm up with his players. He was super nice, and Brandon went to play with their boys until Coach Tom showed up. Then, Brandon wandered back to warm up with Devon and later Kai. I needed gas badly; I was down to 15 miles. So, I left Brandon at the park, and headed home to get my phone, and then gas. I got back, and more of the A’s were there. I set up shop on the bleachers in the shade. I was in a tank top, and the weather was perfect! I’d packed two bottles of water for Brandon, knowing it was going to be hot on the field. He was in a better mood to play today, fortunately, so there was no drama.
They are continuing to pitch kids, but the coach pitches the first two innings.
Here is his first at-bat against Will, a first grade pitcher!

Solid base hit.
The other one, he hit into a double play, and finally, his last, a line drive, was caught by their shortstop.

The game lasted until 7 pm, then Dave came by after their practice. Peyton was very chatty, telling me about water balloons at their practice, and that she practiced with the boys, too. She told me she fielded a ball that Ryan hit. We headed to eat dinner, and we saw the Thorton’s who most likely had come from softball. Peyton went over on her own to go talk to Karlee and Hailey. I’m proud of her going by herself across the restaurant. She stayed for awhile over there before returning and scarfing her food down. Both kids were hungry, and we didn’t have to have reminders to eat. When we got home, it was way past their bedtime. Peyton didn’t want to shower even! Gross! She did finally with help, and then both were out like a light. I packed up their lunches for tomorrow, as we have to make a quick escape to school. I need to set up the art lesson while still attending the assembly to see Peyton get her walk a thon award. Peyton will go to Hope’s birthday party, while Brandon and I will rehearse (per HIS request) for his show. Maybe I’ll try to squeeze in a run there before lunchtime with the kinders. I really want to go get Brandon’s shot, but I don’t want to mess up anything with his arm and drama performance.
