Field Trip

Today, Peyton had a field trip in the morning. I stayed home to take the kids to school. At drop off, I was feeling a bit cold, so I dropped Peyton off, then rushed home to get jackets for both of us. I had a long sleeve already, but we were going to a farm, and another teacher had suggested I may need one. I had 15+ minutes, but with the middle school traffic and local traffic, the 1.5 miles ended up being almost 15 minutes! I got back to school with two minutes to spare, but I had to park further away, meaning we had to cross the street with the boosters. I picked up my group, and we headed out. I had some problems with the seat belts as Peyton watched me buckle her friends, then I got stuck trying to buckle hers. We were the last ones out, and I was worried they’d all be waiting for us. We ran into freeway traffic, and then I was stuck behind a slow construction truck. We arrived, and we were not the last to arrive. Luckily, GPS steered me in the right direction. The docent met our group, and we broke off into smaller groups to learn more about the farm. We got to taste fresh carrots, lettuce leaves, and arugula flowers. We got to see sheep, pigs, cows, and chickens. The kids were given feed for cows up close and chickens. We got back into the cars before 1045 am, and we headed back to school. I got the seat belts arranged in a better way, and we were off! The girls were all chatty, and I wish I’d had a picture, but I was too nervous getting to and from school to even get one when we were parked. I’ll have one more on Friday for Golfland for those that achieved the minimum donation for Walk a Thon. Brandon is going to be my mini chaperone as we take Peyton and two friends to the activity and back. I went in to work after that, and I was exhausted. I stayed later so that I could make up some time, but I still had girl scouts tonight. I picked up the kids, and fed Peyton, then headed out. After the meeting, Peyton showered up while Brandon practiced piano. I’m still trying to recover from the weekend, and getting back into the routine of things is tiresome. I think Peyton feels the same way; as we were driving to the GS meeting, she was falling asleep in the back. I asked her if she was tired, and she said, “Yes.” Didn’t even try to deny it!!
