This morning, we headed up to visit Taipo. But first, we started with breakfast at a coffee shop Dave found. Brandon was wearing two t-shirts, but he didn’t grab a long-sleeve like I’d asked him to. He was waiting outside for our breakfast, and I told him, “I told you at least twice to get a long-sleeved shirt.” He said, “No, you told me five times.” I didn’t have sympathy at that point, as he didn’t believe me that it was going to get cold where we were going. It was nice and sunny here before we left. After Brandon inhaled his waffle, topped with Greek yogurt, pluots and blackberries, we headed out.
Taipo was so excited to see Brandon, and thanked him for looking out for her. She presented him with $20 for our trip, but offered to pay him to stay with her if he wanted. He didn’t take her up on it 🙂 She instead opted to take him out to lunch. He agreed to that, and he picked dim sum. We headed to the restaurant, and he went with their car. Dave and I were going to make a run for it, having already gotten rid of Peyton earlier in the weekend. Brandon did confirm if we were going to go or not. We met up at the restaurant and waited about 20 minutes before being seated. Brandon was given his weight’s worth of food, with dish after dish arriving. He ate more than any of us individually, and maybe even combined 🙂
After that, we went back to the house to hang out a bit before Dave got restless. On the way home, Brandon and I took a nap. Once home, Dave decided it was time to go shop again for his bike. We had the bikes packed up from yesterday already. This time, Dave did purchase one, as he price matched it from online. We headed out from the parking lot, walking over to the trail that leads by my work. We rode the trail that Brandon and I have scootered several times. It was about 4 miles in, and then we turned around after that as Brandon started to complain. He drank some water, and then we headed back. Dave was leading out, with Brandon in the middle. At some point, he tried to pass Dave on the right. Dumb move, as his tire went off the road and as it came back on, he hit the crack straight on. The bike stopped, and he flew off the bike, right over the front. He landed in a slide, with his helmet grounding him, on his hands and knees. Somehow he managed to avoid any scrapes as the helmet took the brunt of his fall. He said his hand hurt, but there was no blood, anywhere! The only reason he was wearing the bmx helmet was that I didn’t have a helmet. Yesterday, he had Dave’s old helmet, while I wore Dave’s new helmet. Today, since Dave was with us, I wore Dave’s old helmet, while Dave wore his new one, and Brandon wore the BMX one. Dave couldn’t stop talking about how incredibly lucky he was! Brandon was shaken, and didn’t want to ride anymore. Only, we were 2 miles from the car. We told him to pick himself back up, dust himself off, and get back on the bike. After he wiped off his tears, he did just that. Only, he continued to complain the whole rest of the way back. Dave rode ahead, but I had the pleasure of listening to the crying/whining for the 2 mile stretch. We loaded up the car, and we headed back to watch the game. We were already past the first quarter, and it was tied. Brandon will sleep well tonight. We ended up riding just shy of 8 miles. We’ll watch the rest of the game before preparing for the workweek.
