Double baseball and FAME!

This morning, I had the kids both practice piano before heading off to their respective games. I got there early for Peyton to warm up. Two other coaches were there already with their daughters.  Peyton took her stuff to join them.  The game started right on time. She’d forgotten the water bottle on the table.  I was worried about getting the rest of her hear together. I had coffee in the car that I quickly downed and filled it up with drinking fountain water. Better than nothing.  But ick! The team mom hasn’t seen much of Peyton as she’s missed a couple of games.  She asked me if Peyton had been playing for long. I told her it was her fourth season.  She just told me how little Peyton was.  And worried her uniform didn’t fit her.  We made due, and shoved her shirt into her pants. She was third up, as we were the visitors. I was standing with her coach from last year who is coaching t ball again. He saw her smack the ball past second base. The team mom turned around and asked me what I fed her this morning! “Wheaties” was my answer, but I think it was a waffle. She didn’t fare as well at her second at bat, striking out at the hands of her coach. She’s used to Dave’s or coach G’s pitching. Oh well. She got a piece of the ball at her third at bat, enough to get on base.  Their team was ahead, but the other team got a four run inning to go up by two. There’s no score kept, but one of the girls totally knew the score. After snacks and one girl who passed out Easter eggs, we headed to the family grocery store to decorate eggs. Dave was staying to watch another game after theirs.  They got crushed! Peyton had a great time dyeing Easter eggs. She was given three in a basket with grass.  There were stickers, crayons, and lots of colors. She had some ice cold water, snacks and a goodie bag.  She saw some friends from school there, but it wasn’t too crowded.  After she was done, I grabbed some lunch for us, and we headed to the field to join the boys.  I left her there with her stuff and headed to work.  I stayed there for a few hours, then headed home to the kids playing with Legos and a model set. Dave’s easy way out!  I finished up with piano for Brandon then headed to shop for Chinese Kung fu shoes for Brandon’s play. We went to the outlets then had dinner.  We didn’t find shoes, but I got something for Peyton to wear tomorrow for the play. We went to get dessert after dinner. While Dave was ordering I saw a kid by himself order after. It looked like a tv actor kid, and I texted Dave to turn around and look. I pointed to my phone, but he didn’t understand. The kids asked, “Your phone dead?” Finally I just told him to check his phone.  He finally got it and acknowledged and confirmed. I googled images to figure it out “Asian Jewish kid on FOTB” and sure enough his picture showed up. The kids have never seen the show. But when I showed Brandon his picture and nodded to the kid, his head almost whipped off his shoulders!  That followed by the widest eyes ever seen.  I think the kid knew we were up to something as every time he turned around, I was staring at him.  He even came to sit next to us to wait at the table next to us.  Finally, I spoke up, “Excuse me.”  He turned around, and i asked him if he was on FOTB.  He smiled and said yes.  I chatted with him about school and how he manages both acting and school. He told us he was in sixth grade.  We asked if he could take a picture, and he agreed.  The kids willingly went to stand next to him.

We said goodbye to him after he got his food. He was a well-spoken kid and hard to believe he was only a year older than Brandon and two grades above!

We headed home and the kids were barely awake. Dave dropped me off to pick up mail. As I left the car, Peyton said, “Bye, Mommy.”  I did agree to walk back but Dave said, “Even after you left the car and were going to walk home, she told me, ‘Mommy can just walk back.'”
