TC Jamboree

This morning, Peyton’s girls’ team had their first game at 10 am. Dave and Brandon took off to get the trophies in place for team distribution. He had it all organized, and had them available for the teams’ second and final game. Peyton and I arrived to watch the game at 9 am. Dave was doing the timer for that game. I walked in and found a boy’s mom who was doing the concession shift. She asked me to watch her kid, or have her kid come watch games with Peyton and me. He’s a good kid, so I didn’t mind at all. We watched the game that Dave was timing. After that game was Peyton’s game. Her teammates all showed up while Jeremy still hung out with me and watched the start of the game before his mom came to get him. The girls did a great job, beating the team 22-10 (though there is no score kept, I did keep a running score). The game was great as several different girls scored, including Peyton, who had a couple or more. I wasn’t keeping track of hers, rather the whole score. After their game, we watched the boys’ game. Theirs was harder to watch. The boys are typically out-matched, though they have a good point guard, Jeremy. Then, we had two more hours to burn until the girls’ second game at 2 pm. We ate lunch there, and the Yins had their timing shift. Each parent took a shift on each side of the floor and the girls and Brandon spread themselves out between them. Dave sat with Ryan and distributed trophies, while I was on Tricia’s side getting texts from Dave about giving out trophies on my side. We geared up for the final game of the jamboree. Dave stayed for the first half before leaving to take Brandon to his game (yes, he had a game today, too!). This game went much better than the first, with the score up to 8-0 for the first few minutes. Finally, the coach took Peyton and Hope out, and the other team scored their first two baskets. The final score was 20 to 8, so they weren’t in danger of coming back. I got some clean shots of her scores, though I was still too close to the basket, so I didn’t get to see the ball go INTO the hoop, just come out, or know that the girls were running back to defend.

After that game, we changed jerseys to go to the rec league game with the S’vale girls. No rest for the weary, though they will tell us that they are not tired. We got there early and chatted with friends when we got there. The drama mom was telling me what was on tap for possibly next year – Mulan, Annie, or Honk, which is the ugly duckling. Her son, Luke, will do it, and I know Peyton is in for next year. Mulan and Annie sound exciting!

Here is her taste at drama this year…the WAT video she was involved in…(I can HEAR her singing at the end…like how a momma animal hears her offspring in the wild)
