Today was the kids’ second football game of the season. Unfortunately, the outcome was not the desired one. We got to hang out with Ted, Michelle, Mckayla, Julie, Robert and Theresa. We managed to get in one nap per kid (Peyton’s was much longer than Brandon’s, and Mckayla and Brandon woke up around the same time). Walking from the parking lot to the stadium, Brandon said, “Look, Mommy! Ing-guards.” We didn’t know what he was talking about. He said, “Ing-guards. Over there,” pointing to the crossing guards monitoring traffic. I had to clarify with him, they were “CROSS-ing”guards. Mckayla was kind enough to share her snacks with Brandon. Towards the end of their dried apples, Michelle said they were even sharing the crumbs, licking each other’s fingers. Brandon even helped himself to Mckayla’s drink, straw included. He’s
After the game, at dinner, I asked Brandon what his favorite part of the game was. He said, “The cheerleaders. I like the way the flip them.” Later he told us he wanted to be a cheerleader, too. We had really good seats, thanks to Robert! We were right in front of the cheerleaders in the away section, and we all fit right in, including Theresa, who picked the right color shirt to wear today, even though it meant cheering for the losing team.
