Friday, the kids and I did our usual routine of reading and piano in the morning, then we headed up to meet Dave at work. We had a friend in town, and we met up with him for lunch and coffee. I drove back home with a quiet bunch, and then we laid low until Dave returned for baseball practice. This was Brandon’s first of travel ball. Actually, Dave took Peyton to work her out, while I watched Brandon. We saw Peyton’s girl scout leader walking around the park with her son killing time while waiting for her daughter, who was rock climbing nearby. We then headed to dinner at a Mexican restaurant.
Saturday we did our usual piano and reading, then headed to a baseball warehouse. While it was huge, we did look around quite a bit, but only bought less salt sunflower seeds. We then headed to Oakland to walk around a food market and surrounding area. We stopped at two bookstores, and browsed around town. We then headed to downtown SJ to walk around and ate at a SV beer week site restaurant. We had happy hour, and then walked around some more. Today, we headed to Santa Cruz for some fun in the sun. Actually, it was sunny, but a bit cooler. The kids picked two rides; actually, Dave was going to go on the Big Dipper with Brandon, but Peyton changed her mind and decided to go on it, too. So the two kids waited in two lines, while we waited for them at the exit. Both had a good time, and happy to report that no one got sick! We played a few games,
then headed to walk around downtown. We also checked out a marine conservatory exhibit right next to the boardwalk. We controlled an underwater camera and saw the kids a floor down from us. Dave got coffee again and shopped at some surf shops. The kids got to play in the sand and water while the tide was out, but rapidly coming in, so they came back. We then headed to Bass Pro Shops in search of a camping light, and walked around there. We finally ended our vacation by having dinner at home, meatloaf that I had made at the kids’ request.
