Spring break

It started on a Friday night with basketball clinic for Peyton straight to a dance party for one of her Girl Scout sisters. I took her home right after and she went right to sleep after showering. She was up by 545 am for a softball tourney. Her first game was 8 am so we had to be at the field by 7 am. She had no issues getting up and get ready. We left by 615 am and arrived just a bit early. We took her friend because her parents were coming later. Brandon rode in the back but hid for the picture.

They had games at 8, 930 and 1230. My mom met us for the 8 am game and then took Brandon with her for the day. Luckily that was the game they won! When they were all done for the day, we headed to get lunch with just Peyton. Dave wanted pastrami sandwiches so we found ourselves close to a sprinkles for dessert.

This was a special birthday one celebrating their 13 th birthday. Dave wanted to get more batting practice in for Peyton so he took her out for more after her games. But he hit her in the leg. Sigh. She came up limping a bit and needed a little love the rest of the day.

She showered up and then we headed to Girl Scouts to hang out. The girls were making their own dinner while the moms ordered pizza.

MAC and cheese was on the menu. It was gross watching them. After this, she proceeded to ice her leg.

I asked her when she wanted to leave as they had to play at 11 am the next day. Luckily it wasn’t an 8 am game. We left by 930 pm and she was asleep shortly after she she’d showered already.

The next day, her friend arrived by 845 and we were off by 915. Her parents were celebrating their anniversary so they were going to catch up with us later. They won their 11 am game in a convincing manner, 12-0. That meant they had another game at 330. And if they’d won that, another at 5. It was getting super cold by then even though we had dressed appropriately and had blankets. We also saw a girl that she would later play with in Florida.

The 330 game: here Peyton is representing her team as captain with coach:

It was a close game with the team having to come from behind to go into extra innings. They had to have an international tie breaker and Peyton was the one who was placed on second base to run. Unfortunately, though she got as far as third base, she wasn’t hit home. Then when they were on defense, they had to hold their runner. With one out, a runner at third, the coach called a time out. The play was at home only. The ball was hit to p, and she waited on it, and then looked at home but didn’t throw. She was looking at first as well. But the runner crossed home plate and the game was over, 6-7. Parents were going nuts. The coaches were going nuts and Peyton knew her mistake. Afterward the coach talked to her and told her to move on.

We went to dinner with her friend and her parents. She got to have a little fun after a long day. We then got home showered up and then eventually headed up to my mom’s. Brandon was sleeping already as we had another early wake up time, 4am to get to the airport for our 6 am flight. We checked into our hotel and got a room right away. Tea cup seats:

We even made it for magic morning! It was late at 10 am.

So while others were waiting in line, this is what we saw:

We headed to RSR:

We got our own car.

We ended the day rather early as we had a super magic morning at 8 am on Tuesday. We got up and did a few rides in Tomorrowland as that and fantasy land were open.

We were so early I got one of the highest scores of the day. I doubt it lasted more than an hour.

We took some pictures and rode more. We ran into friends this day:

Peyton did lose her hat on a ride. The HK Disneyland hat my mom got for her. She was sad and Brandon texted me she was crying before she was even off the ride. We did put a claim in lost and found for that but Dave was doubtful.

We didn’t last long on this day either as we’d started so early. But we were going to make the most of Wednesday.

Pixar fest! We stayed for fireworks this day.

We planned to hang out in west LA on Thursday. We met up with daves high school friend, Mike and visited his new house. Their daughter Eunha was happy to have visitors even though her face doesn’t indicate so.

We went to lunch and then headed to the “Tar” actually asphalt pits.

We also stopped by LACMA

We headed to the UCLA campus to walk Around. First stop was the Hall of fame:

Peyton almost died walking up Bruin walk. We did get up to Easton stadium home of the softball team.

Then headed to salt and straw:

We ended our night back at the hotel for another early morning flight.

Phew fun spring break! Friday was mostly business with hair cuts , allergy testing for p (she’s not allergic to mangoes!) and then a birthday party at laser tag and a SJ giants baseball game with her team. Last time we were there, we saw people buying tennis balls. They were to be used at the end of the game to throw into hula hoops. Dave bought three bags, with six balls each. Other parents bought them as well for the girls. The girls watched the game mostly between running around by the bull pen and in the stands. Finally after the game, a come from behind victory for the giants, the girls got to throw the tennis balls. There were hoops at home, first, third and pitcher’s mound. There was also a bucket at the mound. Prizes were given to any ball in a hoop or the bucket. After all the balls were tossed, there were three balls, one in each hoop. Peyton’s teammate told me “that’s Peyton’s ball”. I didn’t believe her. I told her April 1 was 19 days before. She told me she saw it go in with her own eyes. I had to clarify if Peyton told her the ball went in or if she told Peyton. Peyton just had a smile and didn’t say anything to confirm or deny. Finally the emcee announced the numbers. The first was “4127” which was the number listed on Peyton’s label in her bag! I had to apologize to her teammate, who told me, “See! I was right!”

She claimed her prize which was a Johnny Cueto bobblehead doll!

Today she had basketball clinic in the morning and then will have practice for her other team this even. Brandon starts volleyball clinic this evening as well. Back to the grind!
