Saturday morning, our carpool came to get us at 830 am. We ran into a bit of traffic, and we were a little late, but arrived safe and sound.
The girls had three games, at 11 am, 2 pm and 630 pm. We had picnic style food, and the girls ate in between games. Peyton has been struggling with batting, but in the second game, she hit a big one!
She unfortunately ran into the tag at third as she realized she wouldn’t make it. Too bad! It was 3 outs by then. She said she didn’t cry (That was the way she was going to get to watch A League of Their Own, as I’d shown her a portion of the “No crying in baseball” clip.)
The team was really down in the middle game, and she came into pitch. She did okay, and fortunately didn’t get hit by a come backer like her teammate did against the third team they played. She was afraid to pitch after that.
Sunday’s game started at 8 am, meaning we had a 530 am wake up call. Peyton was texting Dave while I showered up, giving him a summary from her perspective. He was trying to cheer her up, and give her a pep talk for Sunday. They had two games on Sunday before we were out of there by midday.
Dave had ribs going, but our carpool had to go home, since the dad had to work. The girls won’t remember the scores of the games, but they will remember hanging out, playing charades in the grass, and having a great time with one another. They also hung out with the older team, who helped them warm up and got their spirits up.
