Central Park Zoo, Katz’s deli, and Max Brenner’s

We went uptown to the Central Park Zoo today.  It was a short subway ride.  Our first exhibit at the zoo was the “Californian Sea Lions”.  What are the chances that we come all the way out here to see those!  We did see a cool polar bear hanging out in his pen, smooshed up against the glass with his face and two paws.  That was neat because you could put your own hand up to touch his and see how big they really are.  It was a pretty small zoo, apparently the one to see is the Bronx Zoo, but it’s a little bit further away.

We started walking back home and passed thorugh the NBC store.  Brandon had fallen asleep along the way, so we figured we’d grab lunch.  While we were eating, he woke up and was really upset that we had started eating without him.  After we got home, Kathleen returned from her trip to Philadelphia.  For dinner, we went to Katz’s deli, the site of the infamous “When Harry Met Sally” scene.  We ate a pastrami, corned beef and brisket sandwich ordered from our waiter, Richard.

After dinner, we went to Max Brenner’s for dessert.  It’s a dessert only restaurant!  We shared Urban S’mores – huge marshmellows roasted on a small charcoal lit on fire with peanut butter, melted chocolate, and graham crackers.  Kat had a yummy chocolate martini.  We stopped at Duane Reade to buy water and Brandon saw Elmo on the sippy cup.  “Elmo ba-ba” = “Elmo’s on the sippy cup!”   24,000 steps today!
