On Friday morning, Peyton wanted to get down and see Dave. She climbed down on his side of the bed (I had previously pulled her up), and then plopped on the floor. She said, “I fall down. See what happens? I fah-got!” It was all in one sequence. She was just fine, but it was funny to hear, so early in the morning. She loves the doll that Mckayla and Marcus got her, and is still repeating the things she says. Now she is saying, “I see you, Mommy”.
I picked Brandon up first Friday, so I could check in with the teachers on how he did on their field trip (he was fine). If I have Peyton with me, it’s a little harder to chat with the teachers. While we were on our way over to get Peyton, Brandon heard the new Bruno Mars song on the radio, and he said, “Aww, we shoulda took Peyton in the car.” I thought it was nice of him to think of his sister like that.
Peyton and Brandon do a reasonable job at humoring each other. Peyton was trying to show Brandon her art work, and said, “Look I make!” He was busy with his own thing. She looked across at him in the car, trying to show him, and he just said, “Woooow, Peyton, good job.” He did his best to try to sound enthusiastic about what she was talking about. Likewise, Peyton “tries”. Brandon was telling her, “We heard Katy Perry and Bruno Mars.” Peyton was engrossed in a coloring book, and without even lifting up her head, said, “Whoah, boo-tiful, bruddah.” We went back up to the mountains to my mom’s house this weekend. We fed them before we left. We just ate up the food from the night before. We had given them some green beans, and Peyton reached across the table to get Brandon’s. Brandon cried out, “Hey, she’s taking my green beans! Can I have more?” I had to laugh, because they were fighting over green beans!
Before leaving, Dave tilted Peyton’s chair to more of a recline position. Figuring it was night time, he wanted her to be more comfortable while sleeping. But until she got to sleep, she was left staring straight up into the ceiling. It was hard for her to drink the water out of a straw cup, too, since she needed to sit up a little to do so. She would have done better with a sippy, but we didn’t have one of those. She managed somehow, I guess by just letting the water drip (even though it’s not supposed to). One funny thing to come out of it was her asking us, “Where’s bruddah?” Haha, she was so reclined, she couldn’t see across the seat to find Brandon. We got stuck in a bit of traffic, so luckily I had brought the rest of the green beans with us. They both wanted more, so they ended up finishing the rest of what was cooked, which was over half a bag. I was really worried what it was going to do to them later, but since they were hungry, we let them.

Saturday morning was the first time I denied her “mum-mum” in an attempt to wean her. She repeated her requests several times, each a bit whiner than the next. I asked her if she wanted milk instead, and she thought about it for a second, then said, “I want milk.” We repeated that the next two mornings, and so far so good. I did tell her that mum-mum is for night time. She started asking me today, right after dinner. I knew she was tired. She took her bath, then I fed her, and she went down within 5 minutes.
We went to the snow on Sunday. Brandon was really looking forward to getting back on a snowboard. Peyton didn’t really like the tubing as she had last month. In fact, she tried to get out of the tube carousel. I thought I’d have to rush out to her to pick her up if she ejected herself. She dragged her heals in the snow, but stayed in the tube. I think she was both tired and hungry, because she didn’t really want to do snow angels either. This time, we remembered, and Brandon made his best attempt. It wasn’t snowing like it had been last time, so it made it a little harder to make the angels. After we got back home, Peyton said, “I go snow. Have fun!” She had such a smile on her face. I guess that’s because she had eaten lunch and had her nap by then.
This morning, she was wearing an outfit that she normally wears to daycare. It is a longer shirt that poofs out at the bottom, with flannel matching pants. But for some reason, she really noticed her outfit today. She twirled around and said, “Lookit I wear!”
We got home and Peyton remembered the toy they were last playing with before we left on Friday. Jesselyn had given her a playdoh kitchen set. We hadn’t taken out the playdoh, but she was having fun with just the kitchen. She said, “I make veggies! I make soup.” She and Brandon enjoyed playing with the set until dinnertime. Then, they were talking about their colors, since the playset has so many different colors. She said, “My fave-it color es puh-pull.” Brandon says, “My favorite color is blue.” Then, Peyton said, “My fave-it colors es boo.” She just likes whatever he likes. And puh-pull.
