Countdown Day 10, Power Nap!

Today I reversed the drop-off by sending Brandon to CDC first. I partly wanted to test out their procedure and to see how he would do with a slightly different routine. It seemed as though there were fewer kids that start their day there, so I thought maybe this would allow B to relax a bit before starting school. Unfortunately I missed the Friday all-school flag salute, but I really needed to get hours in at work. He seemed curious about the toys in CDC, so he wasn’t upset. I then dropped P off and went off to work.

I had to leave early again to pick both of them up. B and P would go to MA in the afternoon. B to attend the MA ice cream social in his old class. P would go for the w/o parent class orientation. When I picked up B, I was immediately intercepted by one of the teachers at daycare. She told me that he had a rougher afternoon and was saying no to them. He again said he was bored there and I tried to explain that he should make the most out of it. He also hasn’t gotten used to eating home cooked lunches again. He also told me that I should just let him eat the school lunches available. Apparently he saw others that purchase lunch and preferred that. I reviewed the menu that was handed to us yesterday, and I just have visions of Jaime Oliver’s Food Revolution show. It wasn’t that extreme, but it wasn’t that far off either. The typical items, chicken nuggets, mac n cheese, hot dogs, burritos, crispy fish, etc. I feel bad, because he said he wanted hot lunch. I’ll have to work harder to be more creative with lunches that can hold up to luke warm temperatures. So we set off to get P and head to MA. By the time we left FA after picking P up, B was sleeping. He really is struggling without nap time. I keep reminding him that he should just tell the daycare to let him relax on one of the couches and sleep. Either way, he had about a 15 min power nap from FA to MA.

I left B, with his former class. He was really happy to be back. I then sent P to her new class. She was actually excited to go there, but after we entered the class, she became tentative. I made my presence short and said I would be back real soon. I left with her kinda just looking around for something to do. I went back to the playground to help out and watch B at his ice cream social. He really looked like he had great time of course. No sooner than 15min, Ms. S came out and told me P had a potty accident. Luckily I had spare clothes in the car and I went back to get them. I stayed outside of the classroom and didnt want P to see me. After an hour of being there, I went back to get her. She was the only one at the table eating the frosting off of a cupcake. It was someone’s birthday and everyone else had finished their cupcakes. P, however had a clown face ring around her lips of green frosting. It was hilarious, and I laughed and thought immediately to get my phone out to take a pic. However just as I smiled and laughed she busted out her big pouty lower lip, and started weeping. I’m not sure whether it was because she was sad that I had left, or upset that I surprised her by laughing at her big frosting mouth. Either way, I wasn’t able to get the pic, because I went to go help her out. She never really got to finish her cupcake because I cleaned off the frosting and put her cupcake down to wash her hands. By the time we got back, they had thrown the rest away.

B was happy to be back in his old class, and we said another goodbye. We went home and had dinner with my parents, and they both passed out pretty early.
