Brandon ended our day saying, “Mommy, we had a very busy day today.”
Back up more than 14 hours. I had backed Peyton’s alarm back to 7am as of Saturday, so today, she came into the room saying, “Mommy, do you hear my alarm?” I honestly hadn’t and when I checked my clock, I swore it said 630am, and I sent her back to her room. But then, I did hear it, and called her back. She looked over at Dave’s side of the bed and thought he had gone to work. I told him he’d gone bike riding with Ted. So, we hung out upstairs for awhile. Actually, Peyton hung out so much, that she fell overboard on the bed. I knew she was leaning over to antagonize Brandon, who was on the floor, and as I reached for her, to stop her from going right off (she was on top of the blankets), she fell over. She somehow flipped, as she was on her tummy one moment, then she did a somersault and ended up face up. It all happened in slow motion, and she claimed Brandon pulled the blanket, while he said he was trying to put the blanket back on the bed. For that, I sent him to his room, while I fed Peyton first. Luckily, Peyton wasn’t hurt, since there had already been padding on the floor, she had her hands out (yay for gymnastics), and she hadn’t fallen quickly. Still, lucky. So, Peyton and I headed down and got cereal. Peyton is a creature of habit and wanted Cheerios, while Brandon wanted oatmeal. He was able to come down after Peyton was done with her bowl.
After, we started watching some of the movies we’d gotten at the library. They sat through some of Fantasia, which Dave didn’t think they’d like. I fast forwarded to the Nutcracker songs, and that held their interest, along with Sorcerer Mickey. I read more of my book while the kids watched TV, but it was definitely harder to read since they’d ask questions or point to the screen. Dave came home around 10am, and wanted to go get a bottle of wine to take to the Kao’s tonight. I was going to the gym, but since he wanted to walk, we all headed out. I just mapped it and it is 2.3 miles. Dave was complaining a little since he was tired, so I pushed the stroller a bit. We traded off periodically pushing. We fed the kids a little from the salad bar, knowing we’d have a full meal later tonight. I had lost my appetite having watched a lady “try” some of the sausage with her tooth pick which she’d reused. Ugh. We walked back, and Peyton fell asleep bent in half over the restraints, with about 20 minutes left. I plucked her out of the stroller, and carried her upstairs. She’d woken up a bit, but quickly fell asleep while I sat next to her. I read some more, then briefly napped. I woke up and read again, when I watched her open her eyes, and say, “Mommy!” while pointing down to her pants. She had peed a little on the bed and definitely through her pants. I thought that might be an issue, since she’d slept another 2 hours or more since we’d gotten home. It was a nice segue to her bath, which she’d skipped last night. She peed some more (luckily, she’d only slipped a bit in her bed), then we got the bath going. She’d told me, “Maybe we can change the sheets to the monkey sheets.” That was her hint, though I was already planning to change the sheets, I hadn’t thought of her flannel ones. She did help me with the sheet, then I also got ready. We left soon after that. The Brown’s were already there, and after a brief warming up period, the kids were all playing with one another. We had told Brandon to bring something to play with, but he assured us that there would be toys for him there. Peyton had a great time playing with Mckayla’s stuff, but didn’t want to put the princess dresses on that Mckayla had offered. Peyton didn’t want to take off her sweater, and I think she may not have wanted to mess up her hair, since she asked for “Bah-raids.” She was also in a dress, though she asked for a skirt.

The kids had fun playing, and Brandon did find something to do in Mckayla’s iPod, however that meant taking away the music that Peyton was listening to (Ariel). We then distracted the girls with a puzzle, and I helped them a bit, as Peyton picked the harder of the two, with mostly muted colors. We fixed the kids their dinner, and they were mostly in the kitchen area. I separated Brandon and Peyton, so that Peyton could sit with Mckayla, but she quickly migrated back to Brandon, disturbing him in the process. We were able to mostly keep an eye on them, as some of the kids transferred into the adult’s table. The kids ate their share of the roasted veggies, butternut squash, green beans, and turkey. Peyton was super hungry, asking for another helping of “chicken.” After dinner, there was more playing, with 9 kids in total, with 10 adults. After dinner, Peyton agreed to the princess dress, but only in Mckayla’s room. I encouraged her to come outside, especially as Dave was calling everyone in for ice cream, but she lagged behind saying, “But there’s too many people there.” She did come eventually, and I gave her an out by taking it off so that she didn’t get any ice cream on it. She definitely didn’t want to be recognized dressing up (she chose Rapunzel). The adults ate pie and cookies, which was just a yummy! I’d had a little coffee in preparation to finish my book! I had a little over 100 pages, and wanted to get it done. After dessert, Peyton put the dress back on, and Dave was able to get a photo from Bonnie’s camera. We gave the kids a few more minutes, then prepared them with a warning to get things cleaned up. The kids helped clean up the toys that were strewn all amongst the family room. We headed out out. Brandon took his bath, and we sent both kids to bed. Dave was watching TV, while I was reading in the room with him. I knew this would prolong the reading, but I’d wanted to watch what he was watching. At about 930pm, almost an hour since we’d put the kids to bed, the door cracked open. I knew it wasn’t just the wind, because the handle was depressed. Since I was reading, incidentally about vampires and baby vampires, and was a bit creeped out by our own little monster who wasn’t quite tired yet, I had Dave take care of things. I figured he’d be out all day tomorrow, so I’d have my share. She wanted her music on, since it’d already been 59 minutes since the radio was turned on, and the sleep function had turned off. She finally fell asleep. I figured maybe the 2+ hour nap had thrown off her normal sleep schedule. After she was asleep, Dave finally left, and finished TV downstairs, while I continued to read. I finished the remainder of the book right as he was going to sleep, about 2 hours later. Then, of course, it was time to blog, since I had put that off until the book was done. I may need some more coffee tomorrow, as I’ll have both kids at home, while Dave is taking the train up to work. I’ll have to figure out what to do with them, that doesn’t involve TV, since it’s not a weekend anymore. Technically. I’m going to go through the craft books from Bonnie and see what fun we can have. Thanks to the Kao’s for their hospitality! We had a great time tonight, and for once, the Tsao kids didn’t have any injuries (though we had some close calls).
Note: I just heard Peyton again, crying out for me in her sleep. She sounded like she was fighting with someone. Maybe her brother, but she didn’t stop like she normally does. I went up to investigate, and her eyes were still closed. I changed her diaper again, to give her a fresh start. That must have been it, as she went right back to sleep.
