Well, last night, since we’d gotten home later after our meeting, we didn’t get the kids to bed as early as we would have liked. They were in bed by 730pm or so, but we had a nocturnal visitor. Someone opened the door at 5am. I was confused as my alarm hadn’t gone on (I had turned Peyton’s off as of Saturday night). No one entered, but it was still surprising that the door opened. This morning, Brandon woke up at the same time I did, while I didn’t hear any noise from Peyton. I think she woke up when he turned the bathroom light on as it floods the hallway. Since we were running late, I didn’t feed the kids again in the morning here. I gave Peyton a sweet potato that was roasted last night, but Brandon was upset that he wasn’t getting cereal. So, he stomped off and went to sit in the car. On the way to school, I asked, “Who came into our room last night?” Both kids said, “I did.” I’m not sure who they were protecting, but in a stand of solidarity, both confessed. We were right on schedule, and both ate at school.
Tonight, I got them bathed and all ready for bed, having done Brandon’s homework before dinner, so we got time to play Kinect, the kids’ favorite. We played Splash and Thunder mountain, which Brandon enjoyed. Peyton whined that she was too scared for Thunder mountain. Brandon said he wouldn’t cry because he was six. It’s 815pm, and the kids have been in bed for about 20 minutes, but they are still up, I think. When we sneeze, we hear tiny voices saying, “Bless you.” If we don’t acknowledge them with a “thank you” they continue.
Today, I signed up for the second leg of the “Coast to Coast” challenge. If you run one race in CA and another race in FL in the same calendar year, you win another medal. It started out as a joke from Tina who posted to me about what if we did it, just for kicks. Then it turned into a commitment, as we both signed up today, the first day of registration. We both don’t know if we can get time off, but worst case scenario, we fly out Friday and come home Sunday. Now I have something else to work toward!
Here is some footage of the kids practicing baseball:
