Swimming

I didn’t have time to upload this from yesterday, but yesterday was diving board day.  Peyton’s class was a private lesson at first, because the other person was late.  She had fun being the only student, and Rob asked her if she wanted to go on the diving board.  She didn’t say anything, but eventually, I think she did tell him she wanted to.  They even swam over to the deep end, and she was backfloating/swimming in the 9 foot area!  Rob even lifts his hands up in the video to prove she is on her own.  She has this tendency to flip forward from her back to “recover” then ends up in trouble.  He’s trying to teach her how to kick out of it and swim to the side.  The other boy soon joined in the deep end, and the small kids got the diving board first.  With her first jump, Rob said, “Wow, so fearless.”  She enjoys dunking her head in the water to do her part to swim to the side.  The other boy was a bit skittish and had to have his dad throw him in, and it took a little while, so Peyton patiently waited:

After a few more dives, the big kids headed over.  Here’s one where he let her go under all the way before gathering her up. The other teacher offered to help the boy in front of Peyton to help him down into the water while Rob caught him.  Then, he asked Peyton if she needed help.  She didn’t answer him, but Rob answered for her, “She doesn’t need help.”  Here she is jumping in with the other instructor.  So that instructor jumped in to catch Peyton while Rob was swimming the other kid to the side.  Rob cautioned him, “Be careful, she might jump on top of you.”  We got a few with Brandon, too.  Brandon likes to jump to the side. One of his dives, he stays down there a long time.  The instructor waited him to break the surface.  It was like he was staying down there for a party!

Then Rob took Peyton and the other boy to practice some more things.  Peyton was impatient with the other boy and started doing her own thing.  It was making me laugh filming her since she was just floating like a bug on the surface of the water!  But she was pretty still and the current was taking her out to the deep end.  Rob was watching her, but working with the other boy.  I think she knew I was filming, but she didn’t care.  After we got home, the kids bathed, then we were headed out for our camping trip.  More to follow!
