Old Man

Dave has officially turned into an old guy. We were going out shopping, and Peyton was going outside our front door to the car already in the driveway. As we were packing up the car, there was a car that careened around the corner, screeching his tires the entire right hand turn. Had he lost control of the car, which we’ve seen in the news on several occasions, he would have taken out three-fourths of our family! Brandon was inside, protesting going, so if it had happened, he would have been the lone survivor. Dave and I looked at each other, then watched where the car went. To our surprise, he went into the cul-de-sac just down the street. Dave took off on foot down the street, and told me to come pick him up. I left Brandon in the house, and by now, Peyton had buckled up. I drove into the cul de sac, which has some houses down a shared lane. The guy was parked in the middle of the road, apparently waiting for someone. I made a U-turn behind him, and he took off. I did take a look at him, though it was through tinted windows. I got out and Dave took over. Then, the guy came back and parked himself at the front of the street. We pulled up next to him, and he didn’t look up from his phone until Dave honked at him. He rolled down his window, and gave him a small piece of his mind. The Asian “kid” had a pair of large diamond earrings, and was stammering a response about missing the street, not knowing where he was going, and having to make a quick turn. Dave just told him, “I have kids out there, slow down.” He was cool about it, and apologized. We left, hoping to put the scare in him without retaliation, as Dave’s car was in the front of our house. Dave was half-expecting to see his car vandalized, and it may not be over, since the guy knows where we live. Hopefully he has enough to lose to not do anything stupid. We also have his license plate written down, so hopefully that was the end of it. As we pulled away, Dave told me, “I get it. You feel the need for speed, but just do it somewhere else, where it won’t affect me.” I had to laugh, since Dave was THAT guy, in the rice rocket, souping up his car. But that was over 20 years ago đŸ˜‰ THAT guy is long gone, and now he’s the old crotchey, family guy.
