Day #1 or 2?

After work, I picked Peyton up to head over to her old school to see Ms Kristina.  Her last day was Friday, but since we were headed out of town, we wanted to stop by and say bye.  Kathy and I coordinated so that Kira and Peyton would get to see each other.  They were there already by the time I’d gotten there.  I’d told Kristina that I was headed over, but Ms Diane met me in the lobby. She was surprised to see how much Peyton had grown!  Peyton didn’t say much to her, nor did she to Ms Kristina.  I caught up a bit with Ms Kristina, and then Peyton got more comfortable and was playing on the structure.  When Kira went home, Peyton let her hug her.  Not so much when Ms Kristina tried to give her a hug.  So then rushed home to eat dinner and take baths/showers.  I told Peyton if Dave and Brandon beat us home, they’d leave without us.  She did finish up, and then got herself ready to go.  As soon as they got home, we were in the car and on our way to Dave’s work.  He called the cab, who arrived within 5 minutes.  We weren’t even out of the car by the time he’d arrived!  The security line was short since we were on such a late flight.  However, there was a girl with some Tourette’s or something like that, who was grunting and screaming in the terminal.  It was really loud, and Peyton was quite disturbed.  In the security line, she covered her ears, and was trembling all over.  I had to deal with keeping track of all our stuff, the screening process, and then Peyton who didn’t want to move.  The TSA agent saw her distress, and he opened up the lane closest to us to avoid the scanner. We went through the standard scanner and after we all went through, I picked Peyton up to get her moving.  She was still shaking all over the place.  Finally, we put some distance between us, and I let her down to walk on her own.  She recovered quickly, but later, we heard the girl again. I was hoping she wasn’t going to be on our flight, as it was going to be tough enough as it was.  We lucked out and she was not.  We kept the kids up until our boarding time at 1030 pm with ipads and games.  But once we were on the plane, we told them to “take a nap”.  Neither kid argued, and Peyton curled up in a little ball with no socks or shoes, and was completely comfy.  Peyton and I were behind Dave and Brandon, and there were only two seats in our row by the window.  The entire flight was full!  I was worried because this was day #2 of underwear overnight.  The night before she told me she could do it, and we tried it.  I’d had her potty 3 times before bed. This was only a four hour flight, but still, we’d gate checked our bags all the way through, so we didn’t have any extra clothes. Dave’s backup plan was to use the airplane blankets.  She did sleep for almost all of the flight, though I had a hard time getting comfy since she was sleeping on my leg and it was going numb.  Both kids woke up right before landing, and I was afraid I’d have to carry Peyton off, since she didn’t look like she wanted to move.  She did get herself up, but Brandon took some convincing.  He was still tired.  Peyton then had a second wind and said she was hungry. It was 645 am EST, meaning it was not even 4 am our time!  The healthier place to get food didn’t open until 7 am, so we waited in line to get whole grain crepes, with egg whites and spinach.  Brandon was grumpy, so he and Dave stayed close to the gate.  We boarded by 715 am and then our next flight took off. This time, I had a kid on either side, and Dave was on the other side of the aisle.  I’d given Brandon a choice of which aisle he preferred, and he chose the seat next to me.  I didn’t want them to argue about the window seat, but he didn’t even mention it.   I think we all fell asleep again, as the next thing I knew, Peyton was telling me, “We’re landing!”  We got our shuttle over to the hotel, which was another 30 minutes’ ride, and the kids watched the bus TV and cartoons, while I snoozed again.  Our room wasn’t quite ready, so we got our bags checked after rearranging everything, then headed to check in.  As soon as we’d dumped our bags, we were told the room was ready!  So, we got changed in our room, lubed up with sunblock, and headed out.  We walked 5 minutes and were in Epcot to get a Test Track fast pass.  They’d re-designed it since the last time we went on it 2.5 years ago.  It wasn’t open in November, so Peyton missed out.  We were trying to convince her it was like RSR, but she had her reservations.  We then headed to MK to get our trading cards.  It was then that Peyton started acting out, so Dave took her home to the hotel.  Brandon behaves much better when he is alone, so we went on Stitch, Monsters Inc Laugh factory, and the People Mover, before heading to get waffles for lunch. I got him a savory one all for himself, which I also ordered, then we split a nutella with strawberries and blueberries.  We slowly made our way back to Epcot, and by this time, Dave and Peyton were coming back in.  She’d taken a much-needed nap for a couple of hours, and was ready to join us.  We waited another few minutes for Test Track, and I bribed her with a Rapunzel trading card that we’d gotten earlier.  We didn’t have this one, so it was fortunate that we got it.  I thought she was going to bail on the ride, but she stuck it out.  After the ride, she said, “THAT WAS FUN!”  She even said she’d do it again!  That’s a great sign, since the rest of us liked it, too!  Then, we headed to check out the pavilions and go through them more thoroughly than we had before.  The kids started to get hungry, so we got them some rice bowls to eat while watching the fireworks.  The park closed at 9pm, which is relatively early for us.  But the kids couldn’t take any more activity, and we got them back to shower up and go to sleep.  We’ll let their schedules dictate how early we get up tomorrow.  We’d shipped food here, so we could have breakfast supplies here in the morning before heading out.  It’s been a looong day!
