Water Park; Diving Board Day video

Today was Peyton’s water field trip. I learned my lesson from Brandon’s, and I decided to just go directly to the park to watch Peyton. But not wanting Brandon to miss out, I took him along. We dropped Peyton off at school around 9 am, then Brandon and I came back to do some worksheets (it’s still a weekday). I fed him his second breakfast (his first being two bowls of Cheerios, nuts, and oatmeal), and the second being carrots, hummus, pretzels and a PB and J sandwich – he put the pretzels IN the sandwich and ate them all together. We arrived about 5 minutes before the bus did. The bus unloaded, Peyton ran to us to give us a hug. Brandon went with Ms T to check in. Turns out they had a chaperone/child cancellation, so we were good to go in with the group! Then, the kids sat for snack. Brandon heard “snack” and asked Ms T if he could go sit with the group. So the kids had some cheez-its and nilla wafers before heading in to the water. We waited a little bit until 1130 am, when it opened. Brandon and Peyton started out together, then took off in different directions. Brandon made a friend in Leland, while Peyton was playing with the girls. I was glad Peyton was in bright pink, as it made it easier to find her. Though I was only watching my two kids, it was still not “easy”. They were in the pool for about 45 minutes before lunch arrived. They got out quickly, as they knew it was pizza for lunch. Both kids made it through about a slice and a half, before wanting to go back. This time, I scheduled potty breaks for both, so neither would pee in the pool. Then, they had another 1.5 hours to go back in there. I remembered Ms T went on the water slides the last time I was there with them. I asked the lifeguard, and she said the minimum height was 48 inches. Ms T said she wanted to go, and she offered to take Brandon, too! So, they waited in line, while Peyton and I waited at the bottom for them. Brandon came down first, and the lifeguard asked him if he needed help. He said no, and then put his head down to swim toward us! Here it is… Yay for lessons; it seems to be working! Ms T came down after that, then we headed back over to the main area.  Ms T said Peyton totally talked to her on the busride, about random stuff.  Peyton told her about Brandon going to Great America, told her about going to Starbucks for milk, and a bunch of other random stuff.  It’s still not a “conversation” as she says things and then turns away.  I later asked Peyton about it, and she asked me, “How do you know?!”   So, then I didn’t want to betray Ms T’s trust, so I asked Peyton what she talked about. She said, “WDW, Disneyland, and other stuff.”  Peyton wouldn’t take a picture with her though, not like Brandon who would stick his nose in any camera Ms T had around. Speaking of which, here was one she sent me:

Peyton came out before Brandon, choosing to dry off, then went to play in the baby area. Brandon stayed in until the last call. Both had another round of pizza, and both had water to drink. I’d brought their water bottles, and then got refills from the water faucet. I could tell Brandon probably wanted to drink lemonade or fruit punch, but he resisted the urge. We left when the bus did, and that’s when all the melting down happened. Both kids did a great job at the water park, as I told them if something went down, I was free to leave with Brandon, and just pick Peyton back up at school. But, Peyton was hot, and she let us know about it ALL. THE. WAY. HOME. Well, I pulled over at a VTA stop, and waited for her to fully buckle up and be quiet. That took about 10 minutes. Brandon was doing okay, trying to sleep as requested, but claimed Peyton’s crying was making him nauseous. Finally, she calmed down, and we headed back on our way. Neither ended up sleeping like I expected them to in the 30 minute car ride. Dave came home shortly after the kids had bathed. We headed out for dinner, which I told him had to be healthy to offset the pizza. We were trying to figure out where to go, then Brandon said, “Well, I dunno, but Peyton is sleeping.” Dave turned around and had such an incredulous look on his face, that I had to laugh! Luckily, she wasn’t completely asleep, as she woke up when we got to the restaurant. Brandon had a Mediterranean wrap, while I ate a Greek salad. Peyton ate one falafel ball and some salad, and then was done. We headed back home, and both kids were in bed by 715pm. It’s 730 pm, and both lights are out and nobody is home! Poor Brandon did not have enough sunblock on his face, as it’s quite puffy and red. I even reapplied after lunch, but he is complaining his face hurts. I used the same stuff on Peyton, and she didn’t turn red. Neither had goggles either, and both of them have red eye, though Brandon’s is worse. Normally they do, but I didn’t think they’d wear them since no one else really had them on. Now they know they importance of wearing them.
Here are the pics from today: she agreed to take the pic, but was sitting so far away from Ms T.  Ms T had to scoot over to be in the picture.

I was able to take the second one, because Brandon was there first, and Peyton didn’t want to be left out.

I’d forgotten to post this for Diving Board day a couple of weeks ago.
