I took Brandon to school to find out who his new teacher would be along with other kids in his class. We saw Theo’s family, and Brandon shyly said hello. We walked over and looked at the names. I saw Dave’s reflection behind me, as I knew he was close by as he was waiting for me. I looked around to see who else Brandon would have in class – Carter, Forrest, Sean, and Ryan W, all who he’s known since kindergarten. His first response to hearing the names was, “Yay, I have friends!” Too bad he’s gotten in trouble with all of those kids! Dave then took him to baseball clinic, while I headed to get Peyton. She was so chatty, until we went to the pharmacy to pick up some prescriptions. She was staring at a lady in the corner, in a wheelchair. Then, she was caught staring, and turned away. The lady called her out on it. I didn’t know what was going on until the lady started talking to her, “Are you scared of me? I’m not going to hurt you. Are you shy?” I smiled at the lady and nodded to her, and then picked Peyton up to distract her. I told her it was okay to smile and nothing was going to happen. She was still staring, so I went to plan B, and gave her the Kaiser card to hold. I told her to help me get the fluoride, and asked her what month was on Brandon’s card. We went through all the months of the year before she saw two older girls, sisters, talking to each other in the chairs. She joined them, and stared at them. She was fascinated by them, but they were talking about who was in their classes, namely the boys. What I have to look forward to. Peyton ended up watching them for the 20 minutes that we were there. Their mom was standing behind me in line, so they kept her entertained. We came home, and Dave had made something for dinner. I warmed up some veggies from last night’s dinner, and we ate that. Then, we started to play a game of Match with Curious George. I took out some of the pairs to make it not so challenging. We had 25 pairs to start, then increased it to 30. Peyton held her own, and was clearly more engaged by the judge of our last score – 30 to 6! Dave had come home by then, and was trying to talk to me while we were playing. I was trying my best, but I couldn’t focus on the cards and the conversation. Peyton could care less about Dave’s ranting about baseball, and was intent on beating me! That she did. We sent the kids to bed before Dave headed out for a run. He said he got up to an 8 minute mile! He wanted to earn the donut I got for him to share. Looking forward to Brandon’s first day tomorrow, and we’ll all go and take pictures of him. He told me to just take pictures of him here at home. We’ll see.
Ted was so proud of his 2 mile run this morning (first outdoor run in many many years) until he saw your FB post on Brandon.
Haha…in all fairness, Brandon had two wheels to help his cause! But he still put in the mileage on the scooter.
