This afternoon, Peyton didn’t want to leave school. She was looking for Ms Jessica, who was gone from the room. I saw her walking around before, but now that Peyton was looking for her, she was gone. We checked the other rooms, hung out in the hall, and finally, I asked Peyton why she needed to talk to Ms Jessica. She told me, “She told me since I helped clean up the house area, she would give me a sticker.” So, I had her go back to her own room and tell Ms Elena. It took her awhile to talk; Ms Elena had crouched down to talk to Peyton, but Peyton didn’t say anything. I told Peyton she had to tell her otherwise we’d be going home. I started her with, “When I was done cleaning up the house,” and she finished, “Ms Jessica told me she’d give me a sticker.” Ms Elena told us Ms Jessica would be back in a few minutes. We waited for a minute or so, then Ms Jessica returned. As soon as she saw Peyton, she knew. She said, “I need to give you a sticker!” Peyton nodded, and stood to wait for it. Ms Jessica reiterated that Peyton did a great job cleaning up the house area without being asked. Michelle was telling me that Marcus does the same at school, too! Funny. Peyton thanked her, unprompted, and we left, with her so happy! She earned it, she wanted to make good on it. Good for her. Now if only it didn’t take so long for her to get to the point.
Here’s what Brandon brought home from school today.
He explained that it’s showing his favorite things, like baseball (brown patch on upper right), basketball (orange thing on top middle), and TV (there’s a picture of a minion, see it?). Oh, and bees because they help us, and protect us from sickness.
