Today was Kathy’s birthday party. I got Peyton down by 1pm for a nap,while I convinced Brandon to play quietly. She wasn’t sleeping, so I went in there with her. Within 5 minutes, she fell asleep. We slept until I set my alarm for 230pm. She woke up and complained she was still tired. She even told me she wanted to sleep in the car! Both kids were excited, but I was leery of what to do with Brandon. I had him bring a book, legos, and I had the tablet in case I was desperate. It had rained in the morning, but it had stopped when we were leaving for the party. When were one of the first to arrive at the house, and Kathy’s mom greeted us. She said the jumpy house in the back was for everyone. I was still worried about Brandon since he’s so much bigger than the girls. There were other bigger boys for him to play with, like Olivia’s big brother. He’s 9, but Brandon was bigger than him. Finally, the rest of Peyton’s friends arrived as well. I was busy going between both Brandon and Peyton. She was clingy for a little bit, but then warmed up. She got her nails done, and arm painted. Brandon didn’t want any of that, and was content running around with the boys outside. As much as I was worried about them, they both did fine. They were sopping wet by the end since the jumpy house was outside. I dried them off to eat dinner and then later cake. I tried to chat with some of the other KP docs that were there, some of whom I’d never met, but knew by name. The kids all got along, except Brandon was being too rough with Olivia’s brother toward the end. He came out, and said he wasn’t having fun anymore. That was our cue to get going, too. Both kids didn’t put up much of a fight to leave. Both said goodbye to the birthday girl, and both parents (even Peyton!!)
We headed home, and got both kids in the bath to scrub off the dirt. Brandon is going to pay it forward on his reading today so he doesn’t have to do it on Monday, when I have my meeting. That will shave off some time, and let him hang out with Ms T. It’s almost 645 pm, and my next goal is for them to be both in bed by 7pm.
