Today, I asked Dave if I could warm Brandon up. I needed to increase my activity, since I’d only done the 2K this morning. We arrived at the field an hour before game time, but Coach Tom had arrived right behind us with Kai. Kai and Peyton started to play together, and we were trying to convince Brandon to come warm up with us. It took a lot of convincing, and other team members started showing up by then. Peyton and Kai were playing catch, too!
He wasn’t giving me his best effort, so finally, I made a game out of it. I asked him to catch at least 5 balls with me before he could rest. He spent another 10-15 minutes out with me before he caught 5 good ones. Then, he went over to his teammates to talk about Beyblades and other toys. Peyton and Kai were playing with his skateboard, and climbing up and down the bleachers. Good thing no one got hurt, since all three parents were on the field with the team. The two younger kids played for a bit, then came up to color with the activities we’d brought for Peyton. Good thing Kai isn’t picky, since he didn’t mind coloring in the Hello Kitty coloring book. I was able to sorta watch the game. Then, Kai’s mom came to get him,and Peyton was back to needing me to entertain her. I was able to watch Brandon get two outs in a row, on a 1-3 play. He enjoys being first baseman. Then, another one rolled up to his leg, and he fielded that for an out. The funny thing (well, Dave didn’t think it was so funny), was that Brandon was zoning out right before the play, and Dave called out to him to pay attention just as the ball was hit, a blooper up the 1st base line. Brandon scooped it up and tagged the base for the out. Another one, he caught a short-hop from the pitcher, but he didn’t have his foot on the bag, and by the time he got there, the runner had beat him. In any case, he was doing well at first, and earned the game ball for defense today.
